Wie viel Spielraum lässt S3 Grahpics den entsprechender Grafikkartenherstellern? ATI und NVIDIA haben beide jeweils sehr starke Vorgaben, die den Herstellern, wenig Gestaltungsraum lassen. Hercules hat z.B. ja auch aus diesem Grund das Handtuch geworfen.

As a chip vendor we develop reference board designs to leverage the features and best performance of our products.

We try to cover as many options as we can to give our board vendors the oppotunity to create different configurations.

We provide strict guidelines on how our chip should be used and how boards should be designed - but we do allow and support our board partners when they wish to make changes.

Board vendors like Club3D are very experienced in volume production - and as such we value their feedback and suggestions.

An example of changes that some vendors make include memory type, voltage regulator changes (due to availability) and display connectivity.
