CATALYST™ Beta 1 for Windows XP 64 bit for AMD64
This release note provides information on ATI's first beta driver for the Microsoft Windows XP 64 bit operating system, running on AMD64 systems. This beta driver is supported on the following ATI RADEON™ products.

Installing CATALYST Beta 1 for Windows XP 64 bit for AMD64
This section provides information on installing the CATALYST™ Beta 1 for Windows XP 64bit for AMD64 systems for supported ATI RADEON™ products.
Caution: The BETA display drivers provided are offered AS IS, without warranty of any kind, and have NOT been completely qualified by ATI. ATI does NOT recommend installing these drivers in systems used for mission critical operations or where productivity of any kind is a concern. These BETA drivers are NOT SUPPORTED by ATI Technical Support or any other ATI department. If you decide to install these drivers and encounter issues that you cannot work with, we suggest these drivers be uninstalled and that you install the "Recommended" drivers for your specific product found on the ATI website at [url]http://www.ati.com/support/driver.html[/url] .
Should the ATI Setup Auto Launch fail, follow these steps:
1. Navigate to the DRV64A directory created on your system and double-click Setup.exe. This directory is found where the downloaded files have been saved to. Accept all the default prompts.
2. Navigate to the CP directory created on your system and double-click Setup.exe. This directory is found where the downloaded files have been saved to. Accept all the default prompts.
3. Re-start your system as required.
Note: ATI Technologies Inc. recommends that the software driver for your video card is installed prior to the installation of the ATI Control Panel.
Known Issues
This section provides information on known issues associated with the CATALYST™ Beta 1 for Windows XP 64bit for AMD64 video driver.
Note: Users may encounter D3D and OGL performance issues which may be due to lack of 64 bit AGP drivers within the beta version of the operating system. Users should verify whether their system has 64 bit AGP drivers installed. If you require AGP drivers, you should contact the AGP chipset vendors or motherboard manufacturers.
* Running 3DLabs sample X29.exe under XP 64 AMD with an ATI FireGL X2 board installed results in the sample using Microsoft software OpenGL
* Direct 3D performance issues are noticed when running applications such as; 3DMark2001SE, 3DMark2003, Serious Sam 2, and AquaMark. under XP 64 AMD with an ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9600/9700 series installed
* OpenGL performance issues are noticed when running applications such as; Serious Sam 2, and Quake 3. under XP 64 AMD with an ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9600/9700 series installed
* Having the option Link Time Code Generation enabled results in an error message indicating that there is Insufficient Destination Size for Storage
* Entering the display properties and unchecking the option to Use DDC Information results in a dialog box being displayed indication Run a DLL as an App has encountered a problem and needs to close
* Entering S3 or S4 power state under a Windows XP64 system results in a machine check error message being displayed
* Installing the ATI software driver under Windows XP64 AMD results in the TV option tab not being displayed
