SAN ANTONIO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 5, 2006--Rackspace Managed Hosting today announced that it has expanded its hardware offerings with HP ProLiant DL385 servers featuring Dual-Core AMD Opteron(TM) 200 Series processors. Rackspace chose the HP ProLiant to provide an AMD-powered server certified to work with Rackspace's enterprise-class infrastructure and industry-leading managed services. In addition to the efficiencies created by using the high-performance AMD Opteron processor, the HP ProLiant offers world-class management and monitoring tools to offer better service to Rackspace customers.

"We selected the HP ProLiant because of the price for performance advantages it provides," said Lew Moorman, senior vice president of corporate strategy and product development, Rackspace Managed Hosting. "The combination of HP and AMD technology has resulted in a powerful, enterprise-class server that offers high reliability and scalability for our customers' complex applications."

Since the launch of the company's Intensive Hosting offering, Rackspace provided its enterprise customers with Dell PowerEdge servers running Intel Xeon processors. By adding the HP ProLiant with the AMD Opteron processor, Rackspace now offers a complete portfolio of enterprise-grade hardware allowing customers to specify the best industry-standard hardware to meet the needs of their application.

Moorman added that Rackspace receives a great benefit from running HP ProLiant servers with AMD Opteron processors in its data centers because of the power and heat load advantages they offer.

"The power efficiencies created by using the ProLiant will enable us to add more servers to our data centers," said Moorman. "That translates into significant cost savings for Rackspace and will enable us to better utilize our data center space while keeping our electricity costs down."

"Rackspace sought new levels of innovation to optimize performance and power requirements in its data centers worldwide," said Kevin Knox, vice president, Commercial Business, AMD (NYSE:AMD). "By leveraging the HP ProLiant server powered by Dual-Core AMD Opteron processors, Rackspace will greatly benefit from industry-leading performance-per-watt to provide business-critical hosting resources to a myriad of customers."

"The HP ProLiant server portfolio is recognized worldwide by customers for its performance, world-class manageability and design excellence," said Paul Miller, vice president, marketing, Industry Standard Servers and HP BladeSystem. "We are pleased that Rackspace has selected it to help them lower operating costs and better meet their customer needs." "</i></ul>
