[UPDATE] ATI CATALYST 6.6 & Proprietary Linux Display Drivers 8.26.18

ATI hat sein CATALYST Grafikkarten-Treiberpaket in der Version 6.6 zum Download freigegeben. Voraussetzung für das CATALYST Control Center (CCC*) ist ein installiertes Microsoft .NET Framework. Eine aktuelle Version des .NET Framework kann man über die Microsoft <a href="http://update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/v6"target="b">Windows Update</a> Seite beziehen. Hinweise zu den Release Notes für den Windows 2000/XP Treiber finden sich im <a href="http://www.planet3dnow.de/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=2785236&posted=1#post2785236">Kommentar-Bereich</a>.

Die Download-Links führen zu den ATI-Support-Seiten, wo man die Treiberpakete einzeln oder aber komplett inkl. CATALYST Control Center (CCC*) beziehen kann. Im Moment steht die neue Version nur die Windows XP und 2000 zum Download bereit. Sobald der Treiber für weitere Betriebssysteme verfügbar ist, werden wir dies ergänzen.

Dann berichtet mal schön. Ich warte wie immer erst mal auf die Omegatreiber für mein Notebook. Das CCC ist mir zu langsam und hat ab und zu arge Probleme beim Starten gehabt.

Wie alt ist denn die 9000er Serie? Täuscht mich der Eindruck, oder gibt's bei nvidia nicht deutlich länger Unterstützung für ältere Chipsätze?

Unterstützung mags bei Nvidia geben aber der Teufel steckt im Detail meist sind die neuen Treiber auf ältere Chipsätze angewandt wesentlich langsamer als treiber die direkt für die alten chipsätze rauskamen bestes bsp geforce4ti

Ja, der aktuelle ForceWare Treiber 91.31 unterstützt sogar noch die GeForce 256 (NV10) aus dem Jahre 1999.

Nvidia hatte den Support für den Riva TNT auch schon nach wenigen Jahren eingestellt. Ich hatte damls Karten für Arbeits-PCs gekauft und konnte dann nach ner Neuinstallation kein Treiber mehr auf der Nvidia-Page finden....

Solche Vergleiche sagen wohl nich viel aus. Das kann morgen schon wieder ganz anders aussehen...

bin mal gespannt, welche karten man noch unter Vista zu laufen kriegt...

Wobei bei so alten Karten eh schon Hopfen und Malz verloren ist, was die Performance angeht. Blumentöpfe kann man damit nicht mehr gewinnen. Da wäre mir es wichtiger, daß die Karte überhaupt unterstützt wird und sie Fehlerfrei läuft.

Dabei dürfte es sich um die AVIVO Encoder Engine handeln.
Ab der X1000 Serie kannst Du über das Basic Setup des CCC Filme Codieren.

Super geil eigentlich, 800MB gehen bei mir innerhalb von 6min durch...
Angeblich soll der Grafikchip beim Encodieren eingespannt werden, was allerdings
einiger Aussagen nach nicht richtig ist....keine Ahnung so genau.

Leider bieten Videoschnittprogramme aber kein AVIVO Support - da rechnet immer
noch die CPU allein und auch andere Encoding Programme sprechen diese Funktion
nicht an. Im großen und ganzen also sehr Verbesserungswürdig !

Wer keine X1000 Karte hat, angeblich soll es über einen kleinen Registry Hack
auch auf anderen Karten laufen...

Ganz einfach unter:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Video\{blablub}\0000 den Schlüssel Transcode_NA auf "0" ändern.

Mit ASTT_NA auf "0" kann man übrigens das Adaptive Anti-Aliasing wieder für die alten Karten aktivieren.

Außerdem gibt es sowas wie ein Frontend aus ersten Tagen, wenn man nicht
grad über den CCC gehen will und einen kleinen Bericht dazu bei chip...

Naja, so kann man das nicht sagen. Ich habe vor einigen Wochen auf dem Rechner einer Freundin Windows ME durch Windows 2000 ersetzt und musste feststellen, dass der aktuelle Treiber, die verbaute Geforce 2 GTS NICHT unterstützt.

Für die alten Karten, die jetzt nicht mehr unterstützt werden, sind aktuelle Treiber überflüssig, da diese meist eh nur Probleme mit aktuellen Programmen/Spielen beheben. Diese Games laufen eh nur noch unzureichend/gar nicht auf diesen Karten.

Ihr sollten euch auf den Herstellerseiten nach "discontinued products" umsehen, es gibt auch für die älteren Teile auch ältere Treiber auf den Seiten der Hersteller!

mhh, bei so integrierten Lösungen kann man oft so wenig an Einstellungsmöglichkeiten vornehmen. Gut wäre es wirklich, wenn XviD oder x264 von der Grafikkarte gebrauch machen könnten beim encoden.

Auch die GeForce 3 Serie wird noch unterstützt. Was die GeForce 2 und GeForce 1 Serie angeht, war ich etwas voreilig. Es wird nur noch die GeForce 2 MX offiziell unterstützt. Für die unbeschnittenen GeForce 2 Karten, sowie die GeForce 1 Serie finden sich keine Einträge mehr im INF File. Dies war mir nur nicht aufgefallen, weil ich in das gemoddete INF File von LaptopVideo2Go geschaut hatte. Demnach scheinen diese alten Grafikprozessorserien durchaus noch inoffiziell durch die aktuellen Treiber unterstützt zu werden. Man muss eben nur die INF Files entsprechend anpassen. Davon ausgenommen sind aber natürlich die Karten der RIVA 128/TNT/TNT 2 Serie. Bei diesen wird man die momentanen ForceWare Treiber nicht mehr zum Laufen bekommen.

*schäm* Nochmal drüber nachgedacht, es war meine GF 1, bei der es die Probleme mit dem Treiber gab.

Finde den Treibersupport für Linux/GNU allerdings seitens ATi zum erbrechen. Wollte aufm Notebook mit ATi Rage nen Treiber suchen und fand nur Wirrwarr...

Ich würde gerne Wissen, ob der 6.6 auch die ATI X1400 Mobility unterstütz. Diese wird nirgends aufgeführt oder erwähnt. Gibt es sonst einen alternativen Treiber der diese Karte unterstüzt (Omega-Treiber)?

den mobility-treiber kannste im klo runterspühlen. meinen x200m erkennt er nicht, der inf-eintrag fehlt für mein s270 von msi. nimm einfach den normalen, der geht immer, da stehen sogar alle mobilchipsätze drin *buck*

Dann bleib ich bei 6.5.
