Der französische Waferhersteller und Zulieferer von AMD Soitec (Silicon-On-Insulator Technologies) hat bekanntgegeben eine neue Produktionsstätte in Singapur zu bauen und die vorhandenen in Frankreich auszubauen.
<ul><i>"Soitec said it selected Singapore as the site for a new 300-mm SOI fab, to be known as Fab 3. The company plans to invest €350 million (about $446.5 million) to build and equip a 4,000-square-foot cleanroom facility. The company said it expects to break ground on the project next month and to start production there in mid-2008. Once fully ramped up, Soitec said, the plant is expected to have the capacity to produce 1 million wafers per year and is expected to employ about 500 people."</i></ul>
Im zweiten Werk in Bernin sollen im Laufe dieses Jahres zwei zusätzliche 300mm Produktionslinien installiert werden, damit will man den Jahresausstoss an 300mm Wafern von 720.000 auf knapp eine Million erhöhen.
