WinRAR 3.60 Beta 8

Nachdem Anfang April die erste Beta der nächsten WinRAR Version 3.60 veröffentlicht wurde, ist nun seit kurzem die mittlerweile achte Beta-Version verfügbar.

Mit der Version 3.60 bietet WinRAR erstmals Unterstützung und Optimierungen für Dual-Core CPUs wie z.B. AMDs Athlon 64 X2.

Multithreading is enabled by default, but you can disable it in "General" part of "Settings" dialog. In the command line mode you can control multithreading with -mt switch.</li><li>WinRAR can display the folder tree panel allowing to navigate in disk and archive folders. Use "Options/Folder tree" submenu to enable the folder tree. It can be configured separately in file and archive management modes.Folder tree replaces "Browse for folder" command previously available in "File" menu and uses its Ctrl+T keyboard shortcut.</li><li>Now WinRAR "Rename" command also works with ZIP archives. Ist hier wirklich so ein Sommerloch, dass über jede WinRAR Beta ne News kommen muss? Und das für einzigen Bugfix?

Stimmt irgendwie, dass es unsinnig ist für jede einzlene neue Beta Version von WinRAR einen eigenen Thread zu eröffnen. Genauso verhält es sich mit Everest. Vielleicht streicht dafür Planet3DNow! aber auch eine Gegenleistung von den RAR Labs und Lavalys ein, wogegen eigentlich nichts einzuwenden wäre. Dabei gibt es doch einige interessante Neuerungen wie dem Umstand, dass Microsofts Virtual PC 2004 SP1 inzwischen kostenlos erhältlich ist, welche nicht verschwiegen werden sollten. Wobei es sich allerdings bei der kostenlosen Zurverfügungstellung von Virtual PC gerüchtehalber bloß um eine zeitlich begrenzte Aktion handeln soll. Ich bin ja auch ganz "heiß" (mir ist schon heiß... ) auf die Final, aber von Beta's sollte man schon abstand halten, besonders wenn es um so wichtige Sachen geht wie die eigenen Daten!

Dann also noch etwas Geduld. Die Zahl hinter dem Wort "Beta" dürfte mit Sicherheit noch zweistellige Werte erreichen, ehe man mit einer Final rechnen kann (vielleicht gibt's auch vorher erst noch einige Release Candidates )

Hauptsache es "lüppt" alles!
