Die <a href="http://www.lavalys.com" target="b">Lavalys Consulting Group</a> hat eine neue Version (4.00) des System-Analyse-Tools EVEREST veröffentlicht.

This release brings powerful new features as well as several improvements and bug fixes in direct response to customer feedbacks.<br><br><b>Some of these new features and enhancements include:</b></i><ul><li><i>Support for the <a href="http://www.intel.com/design/servers/ipmi/ipmi.htm" target="b">IPMI</a> (Intelligent Platform Management Interface) specification provides system administrators with an additional server management and health monitoring option. Corporate users can utilize the new IPMI features to monitor security and stability of their servers and more.</i></li><li><i>Support for the ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface) open standard unleashes Operating System-managed configuration and advanced Power Management on compliant computers.</i></li><li><i>Revamped Hardware Monitoring module adds over 70 new monitored values including Memory Clock, CPU Multiplier, CPU FSB and GPU Memory Clock. Revamped System Stability Test module adds hardware failure checking by stressing the computer even more than preceding EVEREST versions. EVEREST ist der inoffizielle Nachfolger des System-Analyse-Tools Aida32, dessen Entwicklung im August 2004 aufgegeben wurde (<a href="http://www.planet3dnow.de/cgi-bin/newspub/viewnews.cgi?category=1&id=1080114663">wir berichteten</a>). EVEREST wird inzwischen nur noch als kommerzielle und kostenpflichtige Ultimate- oder Corporate-Edition angeboten. Die Entwicklung und den Vertrieb der kostenlosen Home-Edition hat Lavalys im Dezember 2005 eingestellt.
Bei den Downloads handelt es sich um zeitlich begrenzte und im Funktionsumfang eingeschränkte Testversionen.

und was soll es kosten das freizuschalten?
Wenn ich mich nicht irre 29 Dollar für einen neuen Key bzw. 19 Dollar wen du schon Everest 3 dein eigen nennst.
Ich denke ich werde es mir kaufen, da es sehr nützlich ist und ich auch schon gute Support-Erfahrungen gemacht habe.

Der Meinung bin ich auch - für einen Privatanwender, der ein solches Tool zwar nutzt, aber nur alle paar Wochen mal, ist der Preis meiner Meinung nach einfach überzogen, zumal man eh für jede neue Version neu zahlen muss. Hätte man das Recht, mit dem heute gekauften Key EVEREST auch in der Version 5 oder höher kostenlos nutzen zu dürfen, wären 30 Euro schon in Ordnung.
Gleiches gilt im Übrigen auch für dieses O&O Defrag - wie oft nutzt ein Privatanwender ein solches Tool? In der Regel doch max. einmal pro Monat, und dann für vielleicht 12 Nutzungen (man muss bei O&O meines Wissens ebenfalls für jede neue Version zahlen) ganze 50 Euro hinlegen?
Ich bin mir sicher, dass die Firmen gleich oder evtl. sogar mehr einnehmen würden, wenn die Programme nur die Hälfte kosten, dafür aber mehr legale Nutzer finden würden.
