Note: When installing the Catalyst™ Vista driver for Windows Vista, the user must logged on as an Administrator or have Administrator rights in order to successfully complete the installation of the Catalyst™ Vista driver.
Caution: Once the driver installation is completed under the Vista operating system (32 and 64 bit), the driver log file may report that the ATI T200 Unified AVStream Driver failed to install. A reboot of the operating system resolves the issue.
Performance Improvements

Folding@Home is a distributed computing project designed by the Stanford University. The application performs intensive simulations of protein folding. This simulation will help researchers uncover how certain diseases develop. Folding@Home uses distributed computing to simulate protein folding, the workload is broken up into small work units and distributed across hundreds of thousands of computers over the internet. You can help find the cure to many different diseases! To join Folding@Home, follow these steps:

1. Download ATI's Catalyst™ software suite
2. Download the Folding@Home GPU client application
Note: If you do not have an ATI Radeon™ X1600 or higher, then download the CPU client.
If you have an ATI Radeon™ X1600 or higher, download the GPU client (either console or GUI version) not to be confused with the CPU "Graphical client".
3. Enter the ATI team number 51394 and start folding!

Kann ich den 7.6´er einfach über mein 7.5´er CCC drüber installieren oder soll ich den 7.5´er erst komplett entfernen und dann den neuen Treiber installieren?

Was ist eure Empfehlung? Wie sollte ich am besten vorgehen? Ich frage aus dem Grund, weil es hat manchmal mit dem drüber installieren funktioniert und manchmal auch nicht.

Hat jemand irgend welche Probleme schon entdeckt oder so?

eigentlich sollte man den alten vorher deinstallieren, neustarten, in abgesichgerten, da drivercleaner ausführen und dann erst den neuen installieren. wenn bei dir auch so mal geklappt hat, dann sei froh. ich machs nur noch wie ober beschrieben.

Seit ein paar Monaten kann man doch mit diesem Catalyst(r)-Installationsmanager die einzelnen Komponenten aktualisieren - funktioniert jedenfalls bei mir seit 2-3 Monaten einwandfrei.

Der Blackscreen beim Abspielen von Videos mit akt. Vollbild @ Secondary Display dauert nur noch 2 statt 3 Sekunden *party*

Das hab ich schon zu Radeon 8500 Zeiten so gemacht als die ATi Treiber noch nichtmal Catalyst hießen.*suspect*

Nicht, dass das nicht funktionieren würde (habe bei meiner Frau auf Ubuntu 6.10 die Radeon 1950Pro ja am Laufen), aber so langsam würde ich da auch mal offiziellen Support erwarten...
 
So Leute, ich habe jetzt die 2 Möglichkeiten getestet, einmal drüber installieren und einmal Treiberdeinstallation mit Neuinstallation.

Also beim drüber installieren konnte ich nach einem Neustart den CCC nicht mehr öffnen, bei der anderen Variante funktioniert der CCC 7.6 tadellos.

Wollte nur meine Eindrücke schildern, was die Installation angeht.

Treiber normal de-installieren versteht sich für mich von selbst. Aber drivercleaner und ähnliche tools sind meiner meinung nach nur noch dann notwendig, wenn man von einem hersteller auf den anderen umsteigt und sicher sein will, dass alles weg ist.

Anonsten funktionieren die uninstall routinen der offiziellen treiber für upgrades tadellos, sowohl bei AMD als auch bei Nvidia.
 
bei mir hat das Drüberinstallieren super funktioniert.
 
Und unter Linux gibt es auch mit dem aktuellen Treiber keinen X.org 7.2 support. So langsam nervt mich ATI echt ab! :[
Wenn die sich nicht endlich mal an den Riemen packen und ordentliche Treiber auf die Beine bekommen hat AMD/ATI mich dauerhaft als Kunden verloren. Soviel Ignoranz geht auf keine Kuhhaut!!!! :[

Und ich Trottel habe mich auch noch sowohl im Notebook als auch im Desktop auf diesen Laden eingelassen... Könnte mir selber in den Hintern treten.

Operating Systems Distributions Supported

The latest version of the ATI Catalyst™ Linux software suite is designed to support the following Linux distributions:

* Red Hat Enterprise Linux suite
* Novell/SuSE product suite

Note: The ATI Catalyst™ Linux software suite may install on a number of other Linux distributions. Refer to the Package Generation installation instructions for more information.
Note: AMD has accepted contributed packaging scripts to allows creation of other packages, but does not necessarily test, verify or warrant the reliability. Currently Red Hat Enterprise Linux suite and Novell/SuSE product suite are supported Linux distributions
System Requirements

Before attempting to install the ATI Catalyst™ Linux software suite, the following software must be installed:

* XOrg 6.7, 6.8, 6.9, 7.0, 7.1 or 7.2; XFree86 version 4.3
* Linux kernel 2.4 or higher
* glibc version 2.2 or 2.3
* POSIX Shared Memory (/dev/shm) support is required for 3D applications

The ATI Catalyst™ Linux software suite no longer provides precompiled Kernel Modules; all installations require GCC compiler and kernel-headers or kernel-source in order to enable 2D and 3D acceleration.

For best performance and ease of use, AMD recommends the following:

* Kernel module build environment - should include the following:
o Kernel source code: Either the Kernel Source or Kernel Headers packages
* ISSE Support enabled in your Linux Kernel
o Applies to Intel Pentium III and later CPUs only
o Enabled by default on version 2.4 and later kernels
* The rpm utility should be installed and configured correctly on your system, if you intend to install via RPM packages

The following packages must be installed in order for the Catalyst™ Linux driver to install and work properly:

* XFree86-Mesa-libGL
* libstdc++
* libgcc
* XFree86-libs
* fontconfig
* freetype
* zlib

New Features

This release of the Catalyst® Linux graphics driver introduces support for RedHat Enterprise Linux 5.
Resolved Issues

The following section provide a brief description of resolved issues with the latest version of the ATI Catalyst™ Linux software suite. These include:

* Moving a video window between two monitors in a big desktop configuration no longer crashes the Xserver. Further details can be found in topic number 737-28222
* Playing multiple videos at the same time with textured video no longer results in corruption being noticed. Further details can be found in topic number 737-28223

Known Issues

The following section provides a brief description of known issues associated with the latest version of ATI Catalyst™ Linux software suite. These issues include:

* Corruption may be observed with certain applications on some Linux distributions which enable the Composite extension by default, e.g., RHEL 5. If you are observing application corruption, please disable the Composite extension. Further details can be found in topic number 737-28224
* Using the xgl enabled x-server interface disables display switching hot plug support
* Video tearing during playback. Further details can be found in topic number 737-26984
* There is no support for video playback on the second head in dual head mode. Further details can be found in topic number 737-26985
* Using aticonfig --initial segfaults results in the xorg.conf file not being available when run in X with Vesa driver. Further details and a workaround for this issue can be found in topic number 737-28261

Könntet ihr die HD 2900XT nicht einem kurzen Retest unterziehen was die lautstärke und den Stromverbrauch angeht?

Gerade bei der Lautstärke hat sich mit den 7.6er Treibern doch einiges getahn, da die Lüftersteuerung nun korrekt zu arbeiten scheint aber auch im 2D Desktop kommt sie mir irgendwie ein bischen kühler vor.

außerdem funktioniert das spiel "Gish" auch nich. im vollbild und im fenstermodus sehe ich gar nichts..durchsichtiges fenster/schwarzer screen.
