Paint.NET - eine Freeware-Bildbearbeitungssoftware für Windows, die zuerst an der Washington State University und nun bei Microsoft entwickelt wird - ist in der Version v3.5 Beta 3 erschienen.

Gegenüber der zweiten Beta wurden folgende Verbesserungen vorgenommen:

<blockquote> * Fixed a performance glitch with some tools, where the action and subsequent undo/redo would be slow.
* Reduced temporary memory usage of commands in the Image menu.
* Reduced disk space use by about 12MB by using NTFS compression on installation files related to staging (.MSI) and diagnostics (.PDB).
* Fixed many clipping issues with tools and effects with respect to an active selection.
* Improved compression for .PDN images.
* Fixed many small miscellaneous glitches and crashes.</blockquote>

Für die Verwendung von Paint.NET wird Windows 7 empfohlen, es funktioniert aber auch problemlos mit Windows XP ab SP2, Windows Vista oder Windows Server (2003 SP1 oder neuer). Zusätzlich wird ein installiertes Microsoft .NET Framework benötigt (<a href="http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=AB99342F-5D1A-413D-8319-81DA479AB0D7&displaylang=de" target="_blanK">.NET Framework 3.5 SP1</a> bei Microsoft).

Spassig, ist mir in all den jahren nie aufgefallen, dass MS zumindest indirekt die finger im spiel hat - spätestens bei der unverblümten empfehlung von W7 als plattform wirds aber überdeutlich. *buck*
