Mit dem Programm lassen sich die Protokolle vieler Instant Messanger nutzen - natürlich auch gleichzeitig. Unterstützt werden u.a. AIM, Gadu-Gadu, ICQ, Jabber, MSN und Yahoo, des Weiteren ist ein IRC-Client integriert. Die Grundversion ist recht simpel gehalten, lässt sich aber durch <a href="http://addons.miranda-im.org" target="b">Plugins</a> aufhübschen und um weitere Funktionen ergänzen. Miranda IM läuft unter Windows ab Windows 95, dabei ist die ANSI-Version für Win9x/Me und die Unicode-Version ab Windows NT vorgesehen.<p style="clear:left;">
