Hi, Ich bin nicht Deutch, so Ich mache weiter in English: (Sie können in Deutsch antworten)

I have a A7V133 (1.05) with AMD XP 1800+, Asus V7700. The harddisks are on the onboard promise controller. All runs fine. When I insert a Pinnacle Studio Deluxe capturecard in the pc, the pc will not start properly anymore. The harddisk led will keep burning, and the operating system will not start (XP, 98, dos, nothing). There is a disk timeout it seems.
When I remove the pinnacle card again, all is fine. I tried placing the card in other slots, removing cards, other irqs, nothing helps. The Pinnacle card is currently in slot 3, as this is the only slot that doesn't share an irq. I forced it to IRQ 10 in the bios on an advice of Pinnacle.
When I put all harddisks on the onboard IDE controller, so disabling the Promise, and have the Pinnacle inserted, all works fine too.
So, I believe there is some conflict between the Promise controller and the Pinnacle card. But what? How can I find it and solve it?

Any suggestions?

You have many power-consuming components installed. Maybe it's a problem with the powersupply of your computer?

How much power (watts) does your powersupply have?

Enermax 451W power supply, more than enough ;D

The Pinnacle card is working fine, yes. But that is not the real problem. The real problem is the combination of the onboard promise and the pinnacle together.

Hi,

I think that you have maybe a problem with your PCI-Bus.
Did you allready install the PCI latency patch from VIA ?

Do u have a RAID System ?

Greetings !

Greetings !

The latency problem was solves with Via drivers 4.32 or so and later. I use 4.41 so this should not be a problem. I tried the latency path 0.20 once, and it made things worse: I couldn't play sound anymore, it was crackling.

I use the Promise in ATA100 mode, so no raid drives. Just 2 drives connected.

Now I only have 2 ideas left :

1. install the VIA RAID Patch even when u do not have a RAID-System. U will find under IDE on the VIA Driverpage.

2. install your OPS new with all of your cards

Bye

Thanks Det, but I don't think it will help, as the PC will not even start properly when the Promise and Pinnacle are enables. THe POST will not always finish. So this has to be a hardware conflict which only can be solved by new Bios from Asus or Pinnacle (I don't know if Pinnacle is flashable).

Two other solution:

1. I had also problems , after removing my Soundblaster to slot 3 the problem was solved.

2. the 1010 BIOS is a Bet-BIOS and maybe the reason for your problems, so flash back to the 1009.

I do not trust in any betas from Asus no more !

Bye !
