Die Firma Xiph.org - vielen vom Audiocodec Ogg ein Begriff - hat gestern seinen neuen <a href="http://www.speex.org/" TARGET="b">Sprachcodec Speex</a> in der Version 1.0 veröffentlicht. Der Codec ist auf die optimale Kompression von Sprache optimiert und ist streamingfähig. Er unterstützt variable Bitrate und unterschiedliche Bandbreiten in einem Stream. Folgende Features werden von Xiph.org gelistet:<ul><i>Speex is based on CELP and is designed to compress voice at bitrates ranging from 2 to 44 kbps. Some of Speex’s features include:
