<div class="newsfloatleft"><img src="http://www.planet3dnow.de/photoplog/images/54308/1_AMD-Catalyst-Software.png" border="0" alt="AMD Catalyst Software"></div>AMD hat eine aktualisierte Version des AMD <i>Catalyst Application Profiles</i> (CAPs) veröffentlicht, in dem laut den offiziellen Release Notes Profile für drei Computerspiele neu hinzugekommen oder überarbeitet wurden. Das neue CAP behebt gleich mehrere Probleme, die im Zusammenspiel mit <i>World of Warcraft: Mist of Pandaria</i> sowohl unter DirectX 9 als auch 11 auftreten können. Die Entwickler wollen das Textur-Flimmern unter hohen Einstellungen im CrossFire-Modus behoben haben. Zudem wurde die Erzwingung von Anti-Aliasing unter DX9 über das Catalyst Control Center gesperrt, da ansonsten Probleme auftreten können. Stattdessen wird die Nutzung der Einstellungsmöglichkeiten im Spiel empfohlen. Abschließend wurde noch die Erkennung für die 64-Bit-Version des Spieles integriert, sodass keine Performanceprobleme im 64-Bit-Modus auftreten sollten.
Darüber hinaus hat das Treiber-Team ein neues CrossFire-Profil für <i>Tribes: Ascend</i> (nun auch offiziell) hinzugefügt und am CrossFire-Profil für <i>F1 2012</i> gefeilt, was sich in einer verbesserten Performance niederschlagen sollte. In <i>F1 2012</i> konnte zudem das Textur-Flimmern behoben werden.

Seit dem <a href="http://www.planet3dnow.de/cgi-bin/newspub/viewnews.cgi?id=1266436878" target="b">ATI Catalyst 10.2</a> hat AMD die ATI CrossFireX Application Profiles aus dem eigentlichen Treiber herausgelöst, sodass Updates dieser Profile wesentlich schneller den Kunden zugänglich gemacht werden können. Die CAPs sind allerdings nicht nur für <b>CrossFire</b>-Systeme interessant, sondern auch für alle anderen Besitzer einer Radeon-Grafikkarte. Beispielsweise konnten die <a href="http://www.planet3dnow.de/cgi-bin/newspub/viewnews.cgi?id=1277377438">Ladezeiten für neue Karten in Battlefield: Bad Company 2</a> durch eine Aktualisierung des CAPs verkürzt werden. Zudem wird für bestimmte Anwendungen das Zuschalten von Anti-Aliasing über das Catalyst Control Center <a href="http://www.planet3dnow.de/cgi-bin/newspub/viewnews.cgi?id=1270753048">ermöglicht</a> oder <a href="http://www.planet3dnow.de/cgi-bin/newspub/viewnews.cgi?id=1291843181">deaktiviert</a>, wenn Probleme aufgetreten sind. Zukünftig will AMD auch Profile bereitstellen, durch die in bestimmten DirectX-11-Games der Tessellationfaktor automatisch vom Treiber reduziert wird, um so die Rechenlast zu reduzieren. Dies soll in erster Linie bei der Verwendung von kleineren Grafikbeschleunigern überhaupt erst die Aktivierung des Tessellation-Features ermöglichen. Bisher existiert allerdings kein derartiges Profil.

Mit den monatlich veröffentlichten AMD-Catalyst-Treiberpaketen wird wie bisher ebenfalls ein CAP ausgeliefert, welches aber meistens zwei bis drei Monate älter ist. In den <a href="http://www.planet3dnow.de/cgi-bin/newspub/viewnews.cgi?id=1292238229">künftig im wöchentlichen Rhythmus</a> erscheinenden Updates sind jeweils auch sämtliche vorangegangenen Änderungen enthalten. Um die installierten Anwendungsprofile auf dem aktuellsten Stand zu halten, müssen Besitzer von AMD-Radeon-Grafikkarten demnach lediglich das aktuellste CAP-Update installieren. Zuvor sollte ein eventuell vorhandenes, altes CAP deinstalliert werden!<p style="clear:left">
