Newark, CA<\/span> (15 Sep\u00adtem\u00adber 2014) \u2013 <\/strong>The Video Elec\u00adtro\u00adnics Stan\u00addards Asso\u00adcia\u00adti\u00adon<\/a> (VESA<\/span>\u00ae<\/sup><\/strong>) announ\u00adced the release of the Dis\u00adplay\u00adPo\u00adrt 1.3 audio \/ video (A\/V) stan\u00addard. An update to the wide\u00adly used Dis\u00adplay\u00adPo\u00adrt 1.2a stan\u00addard, this latest ver\u00adsi\u00adon increa\u00adses the maxi\u00admum link band\u00adwidth to 32.4 Gbps, with each of four lanes run\u00adning at a link rate of 8.1 Gbps\/lane\u2014a 50% increase from the pre\u00advious ver\u00adsi\u00adon of the Dis\u00adplay\u00adPo\u00adrt stan\u00addard. Allo\u00adwing for trans\u00adport over\u00adhead, DisplayPort\u2019s 32.4 Gbps com\u00adbi\u00adned link rate deli\u00advers 25.92 Gbps of uncom\u00adpres\u00adsed video data.<\/p>\n

\"DisplayPortBandwidth\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The increased band\u00adwidth enables hig\u00adher reso\u00adlu\u00adti\u00adon moni\u00adtors, inclu\u00adding recent\u00adly announ\u00adced 5K<\/span> moni\u00adtors (with pixel reso\u00adlu\u00adti\u00adons of 5120 x 2880) using a sin\u00adgle Dis\u00adplay\u00adPo\u00adrt cable, wit\u00adhout the use of com\u00adpres\u00adsi\u00adon. It will also enable hig\u00adher reso\u00adlu\u00adti\u00adons when dri\u00adving mul\u00adti\u00adple moni\u00adtors through a sin\u00adgle con\u00adnec\u00adtion using DisplayPort\u2019s Mul\u00adti-Stream fea\u00adture, such as the use of two 4K<\/span> UHD<\/span> moni\u00adtors, each with a pixel reso\u00adlu\u00adti\u00adon of 3840 x 2160, when using VESA<\/span> Coor\u00addi\u00adna\u00adted Video Timing.<\/p>\n

Dis\u00adplay\u00adPo\u00adrt 1.3 con\u00adti\u00adnues to sup\u00adport video con\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adon to VGA<\/span>, DVI<\/span> and HDMI<\/span>. Dis\u00adplay\u00adPo\u00adrt 1.3 adds sup\u00adport for HDCP<\/span> 2.2 and HDMI<\/span> 2.0 with CEC<\/span> (Con\u00adsu\u00admer Elec\u00adtro\u00adnics Con\u00adtrol), which enhan\u00adces DisplayPort\u2019s uti\u00adli\u00adty for tele\u00advi\u00adsi\u00adon appli\u00adca\u00adti\u00adons, inclu\u00adding 4K<\/span> video with copy pro\u00adtec\u00adtion. The new stan\u00addard adds sup\u00adport for the 4:2:0 pixel struc\u00adtu\u00adre, a video for\u00admat com\u00admon\u00adly used on con\u00adsu\u00admer digi\u00adtal tele\u00advi\u00adsi\u00adon inter\u00adfaces, which enables sup\u00adport for future 8K<\/span> x 4K<\/span> displays.<\/p>\n

Dis\u00adplay\u00adPo\u00adrt 1.3 also enhan\u00adces DisplayPort\u2019s value for mul\u00adti-func\u00adtion inter\u00adfaces that com\u00adbi\u00adne data trans\u00adport, A\/V trans\u00adport and other capa\u00adbi\u00adli\u00adties on a sin\u00adgle cable. It fur\u00adther refi\u00adnes pro\u00adto\u00adcols that enable Dis\u00adplay\u00adPo\u00adrt to share a sin\u00adgle cable with other data types. With its hig\u00adher 8.1 Gbps per-lane link rate, Dis\u00adplay\u00adPo\u00adrt 1.3 can sup\u00adport a sin\u00adgle UHD<\/span> moni\u00adtor with 60Hz refresh and 24-bit color over two lanes, while assig\u00adning the remai\u00adning two lanes to increase capa\u00adci\u00adty for alter\u00adna\u00adte data types, such as Super\u00adSpeed USB<\/span> data as allo\u00adwed in Dock\u00adPort\u2122. Dis\u00adplay\u00adPo\u00adrt is the A\/V trans\u00adport stan\u00addard used by Dock\u00adPort, Thun\u00adder\u00adbolt\u2122 and other wired and wire\u00adless mul\u00adti-func\u00adtion inter\u00adface standards.<\/p>\n
