The Design\u00adFor\u00adward award sup\u00adports the rese\u00adarch of the inter\u00adcon\u00adnect archi\u00adtec\u00adtures and tech\u00adno\u00adlo\u00adgies nee\u00added to sup\u00adport the data trans\u00adfer capa\u00adbi\u00adli\u00adties in extre\u00adme-sca\u00adle com\u00adpu\u00adting environments.<\/p>\n<p>Design\u00adFor\u00adward is a joint\u00adly fun\u00added col\u00adla\u00adbo\u00adra\u00adti\u00adon bet\u00adween the <span class=\"caps\">DOE<\/span> Office of Sci\u00adence and the <a href=\"http:\/\/nnsa.energy.gov\/\">U.S. Natio\u00adnal Nuclear Secu\u00adri\u00adty Admi\u00adnis\u00adtra\u00adti\u00adon<\/a> (<span class=\"caps\">NNSA<\/span>) to acce\u00adle\u00adra\u00adte the rese\u00adarch and deve\u00adlo\u00adp\u00adment of cri\u00adti\u00adcal tech\u00adno\u00adlo\u00adgies nee\u00added for extre\u00adme-sca\u00adle com\u00adpu\u00adting, on the path toward Exas\u00adca\u00adle com\u00adpu\u00adting.&nbsp; Exas\u00adca\u00adle super\u00adcom\u00adpu\u00adters are expec\u00adted to be capa\u00adble of per\u00adforming com\u00adpu\u00adta\u00adti\u00adon hundreds of times fas\u00adter than today\u2019s fas\u00adtest com\u00adpu\u00adters, with only slight\u00adly hig\u00adher power uti\u00adliza\u00adti\u00adon.
