Mal\u00adta, N.Y., Febru\u00adary 15, 2021<\/strong> \u2013 GLOBALFOUNDRIES<\/span>\u00ae (GF<\/span>\u00ae), the world\u2019s lea\u00adding spe\u00adcial\u00adty foundry, today announ\u00adced a stra\u00adte\u00adgic part\u00adner\u00adship with the U.S. Depart\u00adment of Defen\u00adse (DoD) to pro\u00advi\u00adde a secu\u00adre and relia\u00adble sup\u00adp\u00adly of semi\u00adcon\u00adduc\u00adtor solu\u00adti\u00adons manu\u00adfac\u00adtu\u00adred at GF<\/span>\u2019s Fab 8 in Mal\u00adta, New York \u2014 the company\u2019s most advan\u00adced semi\u00adcon\u00adduc\u00adtor manu\u00adfac\u00adtu\u00adring faci\u00adli\u00adty. The\u00adse semi\u00adcon\u00adduc\u00adtor chips will be used in some of the DoD\u2019s most sen\u00adsi\u00adti\u00adve appli\u00adca\u00adti\u00adons for land, air, sea, and space systems.<\/p>\n

Under the agree\u00adment, GF<\/span> will pro\u00advi\u00adde a sup\u00adp\u00adly of chips built at Fab 8 on its dif\u00adfe\u00adren\u00adtia\u00adted 45nm SOI<\/span> plat\u00adform. The agree\u00adment is made pos\u00adsi\u00adble by Fab 8\u2019s com\u00adpli\u00adance with U.S. Inter\u00adna\u00adtio\u00adnal Traf\u00adfic in Arms Regu\u00adla\u00adti\u00adons (ITAR<\/span>) and high\u00adly rest\u00adric\u00adti\u00adve Export Con\u00adtrol Clas\u00adsi\u00adfi\u00adca\u00adti\u00adon Num\u00adbers under the Export Admi\u00adnis\u00adtra\u00adti\u00adon Regu\u00adla\u00adti\u00adons (EAR<\/span>). <\/p>\n

The new sup\u00adp\u00adly agree\u00adment builds upon the long\u00adstan\u00adding part\u00adner\u00adship bet\u00adween the DoD and GF<\/span> to pro\u00advi\u00adde chips for defen\u00adse, aero\u00adspace, and other sen\u00adsi\u00adti\u00adve appli\u00adca\u00adti\u00adons.
