San Jose, Calif. \u2013 Febru\u00adary 26, 2021 \u2013 <\/b>Hew\u00adlett Packard Enter\u00adpri\u00adse (HPE<\/span>)<\/a> today announ\u00adced that it is buil\u00adding a new super\u00adcom\u00adpu\u00adter for KTH<\/span> Roy\u00adal Insti\u00adtu\u00adte of Tech\u00adno\u00adlo\u00adgy (KTH<\/span>) in Stock\u00adholm, one of Sweden\u2019s lar\u00adgest tech\u00adni\u00adcal uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adties dedi\u00adca\u00adted to sci\u00adence and engi\u00adnee\u00adring rese\u00adarch. The new super\u00adcom\u00adpu\u00adter, which is fun\u00added by Swe\u00addish Natio\u00adnal Infra\u00adstruc\u00adtu\u00adre for Com\u00adpu\u00adting (SNIC<\/span>), will enable a signi\u00adfi\u00adcant level of com\u00adpu\u00adta\u00adtio\u00adnal per\u00adfor\u00admance, powered by the HPE<\/span> Cray EX<\/span> super\u00adcom\u00adpu\u00adter<\/a>, to impro\u00adve mode\u00adling and simu\u00adla\u00adti\u00adon from com\u00adplex data to make breakth\u00adroughs in aca\u00adde\u00admia and for a ran\u00adge of indus\u00adtri\u00adal are\u00adas, inclu\u00adding drug design, rene\u00adwa\u00adble ener\u00adgy, and advan\u00adced auto\u00admo\u00adti\u00adve and fleet vehicles.<\/span><\/p>\n

The new super\u00adcom\u00adpu\u00adter, which KTH<\/span> has named \u201cDardel\u201d in honor of the Swe\u00addish nove\u00adlist, Tho\u00adra Dardel, and her first hus\u00adband, Nils Dardel, the post-impres\u00adsio\u00adnist pain\u00adter, will replace KTH<\/span>\u2019s cur\u00adrent flag\u00adship sys\u00adtem, Bes\u00adkow<\/a>, and will be housed on KTH<\/span>\u2019s main cam\u00adpus at the PDC<\/span> Cen\u00adter for High Per\u00adfor\u00admance Computing.<\/p>\n

\nSNIC<\/span>\u2019s new flag\u00adship sys\u00adtem, Dardel, will be built using the HPE<\/span> Cray EX<\/span> super\u00adcom\u00adpu\u00adter<\/a>, which fea\u00adtures an advan\u00adced high per\u00adfor\u00admance com\u00adpu\u00adting archi\u00adtec\u00adtu\u00adre desi\u00adgned for next-gene\u00adra\u00adti\u00adon super\u00adcom\u00adpu\u00adting, such as for exas\u00adca\u00adle-class sys\u00adtems<\/a> that are 10X<\/span> fas\u00adter than today\u2019s most powerful supercomputers.<\/p>\n

The HPE<\/span> Cray EX<\/span> super\u00adcom\u00adpu\u00adter will include HPE<\/span> Slingshot<\/a> for pur\u00adpo\u00adse-built HPC<\/span> net\u00adwor\u00adking to address demands for hig\u00adher speed and con\u00adges\u00adti\u00adon con\u00adtrol for data-inten\u00adsi\u00adve workloads. It will also fea\u00adture next gene\u00adra\u00adti\u00adon AMD<\/span> EPYC<\/span>\u2122 pro\u00adces\u00adsors and AMD<\/span> Instinct\u2122 GPU<\/span> acce\u00adle\u00adra\u00adtors to impro\u00adve effi\u00adci\u00aden\u00adcy and achie\u00adve the per\u00adfor\u00admance requi\u00adred to pro\u00adcess and harness insights from com\u00adpu\u00adta\u00adtio\u00adnal\u00adly com\u00adplex data.<\/p>\n
