For the first time, the industry\u2019s most advan\u00adced 14nm Fin\u00adFET tech\u00adno\u00adlo\u00adgy will be available at both Sam\u00adsung and <span class=\"caps\">GLOBALFOUNDRIES<\/span>, giving cus\u00adto\u00admers the assu\u00adrance of sup\u00adp\u00adly that can only come from true design com\u00adpa\u00adti\u00adbi\u00adli\u00adty at mul\u00adti\u00adple sources across the glo\u00adbe. The new col\u00adla\u00adbo\u00adra\u00adti\u00adon will levera\u00adge the com\u00adpa\u00adnies\u2019 world\u00adwi\u00adde lea\u00adding-edge semi\u00adcon\u00adduc\u00adtor manu\u00adfac\u00adtu\u00adring capa\u00adbi\u00adli\u00adties, with volu\u00adme pro\u00adduc\u00adtion at Samsung\u2019s fabs in Hwa\u00adse\u00adong, Korea and Aus\u00adtin, Texas, as well as <span class=\"caps\">GLOBALFOUNDRIES<\/span>\u2019 fab in Sara\u00adto\u00adga, New&nbsp;York.<\/p>\n<p>Deve\u00adlo\u00adped by Sam\u00adsung and licen\u00adsed to <span class=\"caps\">GLOBALFOUNDRIES<\/span>, the 14nm Fin\u00adFET pro\u00adcess is based on a tech\u00adno\u00adlo\u00adgy plat\u00adform that has alre\u00ada\u00addy gai\u00adned trac\u00adtion as the lea\u00adding choice for high-volu\u00adme, power-effi\u00adci\u00adent sys\u00adtem-on-chip (SoC) designs. The plat\u00adform taps the bene\u00adfits of three-dimen\u00adsio\u00adnal, ful\u00adly deple\u00adted Fin\u00adFET tran\u00adsis\u00adtors to over\u00adco\u00adme the limi\u00adta\u00adti\u00adons of pla\u00adnar tran\u00adsis\u00adtor tech\u00adno\u00adlo\u00adgy, enab\u00adling up to 20 per\u00adcent hig\u00adher speed, 35 per\u00adcent less power and 15 per\u00adcent area sca\u00adling over indus\u00adtry 20nm pla\u00adnar technology.<\/p>\n<p>The plat\u00adform is the first Fin\u00adFET tech\u00adno\u00adlo\u00adgy in the foundry indus\u00adtry to pro\u00advi\u00adde true area sca\u00adling from 20nm.
