The cor\u00adner\u00adstone of this road\u00admap is the announce\u00adment of AMD<\/span>\u2019s 64-bit ARM<\/span> archi\u00adtec\u00adtu\u00adre licen\u00adse for the deve\u00adlo\u00adp\u00adment of cus\u00adtom high-per\u00adfor\u00admance cores for high-growth mar\u00adkets. Today\u2019s announce\u00adment also pro\u00advi\u00addes a for\u00adward-loo\u00adking glim\u00adpse into AMD<\/span>\u2019s deve\u00adlo\u00adp\u00adment plans to deli\u00adver tru\u00adly unmat\u00adched ambi\u00addex\u00adtrous com\u00adpu\u00adting and gra\u00adphics per\u00adfor\u00admance using a shared, fle\u00adxi\u00adble infra\u00adstruc\u00adtu\u00adre to enable its cus\u00adto\u00admers to bla\u00adze new paths of inno\u00adva\u00adti\u00adon for the embedded, ser\u00adver and cli\u00adent mar\u00adkets as well as semi-cus\u00adtom solutions.<\/p>\n

The mar\u00adket for ARM-<\/span> and x86-based pro\u00adces\u00adsors is expec\u00adted to grow to more than $85 bil\u00adli\u00adon by 2017[1]<\/a>.  AMD<\/span> is uni\u00adque\u00adly posi\u00adtio\u00adned as the only com\u00adpa\u00adny deli\u00adve\u00adring dif\u00adfe\u00adren\u00adtia\u00adted solu\u00adti\u00adons capa\u00adble of addres\u00adsing the breadth of this mar\u00adket.  This is the first time a major pro\u00adces\u00adsor pro\u00advi\u00adder has crea\u00adted the IP<\/span> path to allow others to levera\u00adge inno\u00adva\u00adti\u00adon across both ARM<\/span> and x86 ecosystems.<\/p>\n

AMD<\/span>\u2019s ambi\u00addex\u00adtrous com\u00adpu\u00adting road\u00admap includes:<\/p>\n

\u00b7         \u201cPro\u00adject Sky\u00adBridge\u201d \u2013 This design frame\u00adwork, available start\u00ading in 2015, will fea\u00adture a new fami\u00adly of 20 nano\u00adme\u00adter APUs and SoCs that are expec\u00adted to be the world\u2019s first pin-com\u00adpa\u00adti\u00adble ARM<\/span> and x86 pro\u00adces\u00adsors. The 64-bit ARM<\/span> vari\u00adant of \u201cPro\u00adject Sky\u00adBridge\u201d will be based on the ARM<\/span> Cortex\u00ae-A57 core and is AMD<\/span>\u2019s first Hete\u00adro\u00adge\u00adneous Sys\u00adtem Archi\u00adtec\u00adtu\u00adre (\u201cHSA<\/span>\u201d) plat\u00adform for Android; the x86 vari\u00adant will fea\u00adture next-gene\u00adra\u00adti\u00adon \u201cPuma+\u201d CPU<\/span> cores. The \u201cPro\u00adject Sky\u00adBridge\u201d fami\u00adly will fea\u00adture full SoC inte\u00adgra\u00adti\u00adon, AMD<\/span> Gra\u00adphics Core Next tech\u00adno\u00adlo\u00adgy, HSA<\/span>, and AMD<\/span> Secu\u00adre Tech\u00adno\u00adlo\u00adgy via a dedi\u00adca\u00adted Plat\u00adform Secu\u00adri\u00adty Pro\u00adces\u00adsor (PSP<\/span>).<\/p>\n

\u00b7         \u201cK12<\/span>\u201d \u2013 A new high-per\u00adfor\u00admance, low-power ARM-based core that takes deep advan\u00adta\u00adge of AMD<\/span>\u2019s ARM<\/span> archi\u00adtec\u00adtu\u00adral licen\u00adse, exten\u00adsi\u00adve 64-bit design exper\u00adti\u00adse, and a core deve\u00adlo\u00adp\u00adment team led by semi\u00adcon\u00adduc\u00adtor archi\u00adtect Jim Kel\u00adler.  The first pro\u00adducts based on \u201cK12<\/span>\u201d are plan\u00adned for intro\u00adduc\u00adtion in 2016.<\/p>\n

AMD<\/span> today also publicly demons\u00adtra\u00adted for the first time its 64-bit ARM-based AMD<\/span> Opte\u00adron\u2122 A\u2011Series pro\u00adces\u00adsor, code\u00adna\u00admed \u201cSeat\u00adtle,\u201d run\u00adning a Linux envi\u00adron\u00adment deri\u00adved from the Fedo\u00adra Pro\u00adject.  The Fedo\u00adra Pro\u00adject is a Red Hat-spon\u00adso\u00adred, com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adty-dri\u00adven Linux dis\u00adtri\u00adbu\u00adti\u00adon, pro\u00advi\u00adding a fami\u00adli\u00adar, enter\u00adpri\u00adse class ope\u00adra\u00adting envi\u00adron\u00adment to deve\u00adlo\u00adpers and IT<\/span> admi\u00adnis\u00adtra\u00adtors world\u00adwi\u00adde.  This Fedo\u00adra Pro\u00adject-based Linux envi\u00adron\u00adment enables com\u00adpa\u00adnies to tran\u00adsi\u00adti\u00adon to ARM-based ser\u00advers wit\u00adhout the need to inte\u00adgra\u00adte enti\u00adre\u00adly new tools and soft\u00adware plat\u00adforms to their IT<\/span> envi\u00adron\u00adments.
