Zuletzt bearbeitet:
Hatte 3 KV8 Pro hier. Einmal V1.0, zweimal V1.1.
Rockstable sind alle Boards gewesen, für Übertakter ist allerdings nur Version 1.1 zu empfehlen, da erst hier der AGP/PCI wirklich fix und die Multiplikatoren der CPU verstellbar sind. Allerdings genügen in der V1.0 auch der 1/6, 1/7 und 1/8 Teiler für Bustakte bis 266 MHz (und mehr) vollkommen aus.
Beide V1.1 Boards konnten problemlos bis knapp an 300 MHz übertaktet werden.
Zu beachten ist, daß das Mainboard schmaler als normale ATX Boards ist, so daß die rechten 3 Verschraubungen an der Gehäusewand nicht nutzbar sind. Exzellent gelöst ist die Lage der IDE- und Floppy-Ports sowie die Stromversorgungsanschlüsse. Absolut spitze.
Negativ: der CMOS-Clear Jumper ist 100% in misslicher Lage angebracht, sehr störend bei längeren Grafikkarten -> entweder Fummelarbeit oder Grafikkarte ausbauen.
Alle Spannungen des Boards (3.3V, 5V, 12V, VCore, VDimm) sind hochgradig stabil unter Volllast - das beste Board diesbezüglich, was ich je hatte. VCore und VDimm übervolten, so daß die VCore real ca. 0.05V höher liegt als eingestellt und die VDimm sogar um 0.07-0.09V höher. Optimal für Übertakter.
Das Maximum der VDimm von 2.8V sind somit reale 2.89V. Das Board weißt einen VTT-Bug auf, so daß höhere VDimm-Spannungen über 2.8V (in den ersten Bios- und µGuru-Versionen bis 3.2V verfügbar) nur mittels eines VTT-Mods stabil zu betreiben sind.
Das Bios für sich läßt KEINE Wünsche offen. Man kann mehr Spannungen, Timings und sonstige Chipsetoptionen einstellen, als einem lieb ist. Wirklich hervorragend.
FanEQ und µGuru sind die perfekte Ergänzung, um CPU-, Gehäuse- und sonstige Systemlüfter ideal regeln zu lassen und zu jedem Zeitpunkt ein optimal leises System zu erhalten.
Cool'n'Quiet funktioniert selbst mit 2 doppelseitig bestückten 512 MB Riegeln tadellos.
Wer ein günstiges Sockel 754 System will, erhält meine klare Empfehlung für das KV8 Pro V1.1.

Ich kann mich meinem Vorredner nur anschließen - ein nahezu perfektes Mainboard!
Ich hatte zuvor das EPoX 8KDA3+ (nForce3 250GB) und damit nur Probleme.
Beim Abit-Mainboard kann ich endlich Cool'n'Quiet mit meinen zwei doppelseitigen Speichermodulen problemlos nutzen und die Spannungen sind wirklich stabil - liegen oft sogar leicht über den eingestellten Spannungen.
Einzige negative Aspekte, welche aber keinesfalls vom Kauf abraten sollen:
- die Temperaturen werden falsch ausgelesen, wird aber bald wohl mittels BIOS-Update gelöst werden
- das Mainboard lässt sich nicht vollständig anschrauben, die rechte Seite (bei mir drei Schrauben) hängt sozusagen in der Luft; letztendlich macht das aber überhaupt kein Problem, da das Mainboard auch so absolut fest sitzt u. selbst meinen Zalman CNPS7000B-Cu aushält; lediglich beim Einstecken des Stromsteckers sollte man das Mainboard etwas festhalten - aber das macht man ja auch nicht jeden Tag...

Ich habe das Board in meinem LAN-Rechner verbaut (Rev. 1.1).
Pro: Schnell, guter Ausstattungsumfang, 4 Phasen Stromversorgung, reichhaltige OC-Möglichkeiten, stabil.
Contra: Layout mit massiven Schwächen (SATA-Ports können von modernen Grafikkarten verdeckt werden, USB-Anschlüsse von langen PCI-Karten), meine TV-Karte war nicht zuverlässig zum Laufen zu bekommen.
Aufgrund dieser Schwächen würde ich mir es nicht noch einmal zulegen.
Pro: Schnell, guter Ausstattungsumfang, 4 Phasen Stromversorgung, reichhaltige OC-Möglichkeiten, stabil.
Contra: Layout mit massiven Schwächen (SATA-Ports können von modernen Grafikkarten verdeckt werden, USB-Anschlüsse von langen PCI-Karten), meine TV-Karte war nicht zuverlässig zum Laufen zu bekommen.
Aufgrund dieser Schwächen würde ich mir es nicht noch einmal zulegen.

Ich bin mit dem Abit KV8 Pro sehr zufrieden. Alles läuft ohne Probleme und dank passiver NB ist auch ein Silent PC möglich. Außerdem habe ich keine Probleme mit dem RAm was beim A64 S754 doch ein gewisses Problem darstellt.

Hab auch das KV8 Pro in der Rev.1.0
Eigentlich spitzen Board! Bin jetzt ganz zufrieden damit.
Einige kleine Fehler:
- Als erstes hat mich immer gestört das die Temperatur falsch angezeigt wurde. Das wurde aber durch ein Bios-Update (V1.7) behoben.
- Als 2tes hat mich gestört das der AGP/PCI-Fix nicht funktionierte. Das hat mich dann erstmal aufgeregt. Kauft man extra ein Board mit Fix und dann funktioniert das nich.
Konnte dabei maximal bis 216x11 übertackten.
Dafür funktioniert aber der 7:2:1 Teiler perfekt. Dazu noch die LDT Bus Freq. auf "FSB x4" stellen.
Damit läuft mein 3400+ (ClawHammer, 1024KB) jetzt auf 225x11 = 2475Mhz @ 1,6V bei 62°C im Vollastbetrieb (mit ZNPS7000B-Cu Kühler).
Pro ist noch die Cool&Quite Funktion, die Automatische Lüfterregelung und die uGuru Software mit der man den FSB-Takt, VCore etc. im Windows verstellen kann.

Einige Schwachpunkte wurden bereits erwähnt: Der ClearCMOS Jumper sitzt selten dämlich, die S-ATA-Connectors sind ebenfalls unglücklich platziert.
Die Temperaturanzeige ist bei mir auch in einer neuen Bios-Version noch sehr hoch. Mit einem 3000+ Newcastle kam ich bei einem Referenztakt von 220 (2200 MHz) schnell auf 67°C. Und das mit einem Zalman 7000CuAl. Ich habe jetzt einen 3200+ Newcastle drin, der bei Default-Einstellungen sogar bei 71°C liegt (geweils bei ca. 22°C Raum-T). Es gibt allerdings durchaus Hardware-Sites (z.B. hardtec4u.de), die diese Temperaturen als die realen Core-Temperaturen auffassen. Es muss also keine Fehlmessung vorliegen.
Mit einer Radeon 9600XT und milder Übertaktung (Referenztakt 220, LDT 4, Speicher auf 333 gesetzt) gab es immer wieder Freezes und VPU Recovers. Das scheint aber ein allgemeines 9600er-Problem mit Via-Chipsätzen zu sein. Diverse Tipps wie AGP auf 4x setzen, Fast Writes abschalten, etc.. halfen nicht. Bei Standard-Taktung lief es einwandfrei.
Etwas mehr hätte ich von meinem derzeitigen Speicher erwartet. Habe 2 x 256MB A-Data Vitesta PC 500 in der Kiste. Kann bei 200er Referenztakt nicht mal auf CL2 gehen, bei 225 ist auch mit CL2,5 Sense, jeweils bei 1T Commandrate.
Überzeugend ist der absolute stabile Betrieb. Super die Lüftersteuerung, die Schwellwerte sind flexibel anpassbar. Die Northbridge bleibt schön kühl, selbst bei Übertaktung.
Insgesamt kann man mit dem Board ein prima leises, doch trotzdem performantes System bauen.
