Der Einsatz von PCI-Karten mit 5V-Signalspannung in aktuellen Asus-Boards der A8N-Reihe mit nForce4-Chipsatz führt praktisch immer zu einem völlig instabilen System, und in den meisten Fällen außerdem zu einem zerstörten PCI-Bus.
Dazu zählen z.B. viele DVB-S-Karten, alte Soundkarten (z.B. von Creative Labs bis mindestens zur Soundblaster Live! Player 1024), andere TV-Karten (z.B. Hauppauge WinTV Radio), alte PCI-Grafikkarten u.v.a.m.

Ich habe in vielen Foren über die Probleme der A8N Serie mit DVB-S Karten gelesen.
Wer hat schon ein Board mit solch einer Karte zerschossen? War ein Multischalter mit Stromversorgung für die LNB zwischengeschaltet oder wurde die Karte direkt an die LNB angeschlossen? Es geht um die Vermutung, das das Board nicht genügend Strom für die LNB Versorgung liefert. Das müsste eigentlich mit einem Multischalter mit eigener Stromversorgung dann kein Problem mehr sein.

Seit neuestem tragen neue Boards die Zusatzbezeichnung "Green". Ausserdem hat sich die Boardrevision von 1.02 auf 1.04G geändert. Weiss jemand was sich da geändert hat ? 
"Green" bedeutet wahrscheinlich, dass das Board diesem neuen EU-Standard für ökologische Verträglichkeit entspricht (http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/ROHS).
Was sich sonst geändert hat, wüßte ich auch gerne.

wie hast Du es geschafft, den X2 3800 auf 2800Mhz einzustellen?
Dazu folgendes bzw. meine config:
A8N-SLI Premium mit BIOS 1011-006
X2 3800 @ 2500Mhz mit Vcore 1,4375V (primestable bzw. folding@home stable
)RAM @208,3Mhz (mehr als 333Mhz dual-channel klappt mit 2GB RAM nicht...mit 2x 512MB Corsair liefen auch mit 400Mhz)
(Achtung: Beim bootscreen wird die speed 1500Mhz angezeigt -> statt 2500Mhz. Tatsaechlich arbeitet der Rechner aber unter Vista mit 2500Mhz !)

Wenn ich mehr als 250Mhz FSB einstelle...also z.B. 255Mhz FSB, dann bootet das System zwar, aber es laeuft dann mit einer seltsamen speed von 1530Mhz (1530Mhz x 6).
Bisher habe ich es auch nicht geschafft, ein anderes BIOS zu flashen...bei 13.03 oder 16.04 meckert awdflash.exe immer, dass das BIOS nicht zu dem System passt (dachte evtl. das ich mit einem anderes BIOS das System hoeher takten kann).
Hast Du eine Idee wie ich mit der BIOS Version hoeher takten kann oder ob das mit einer anderen BIOS Version dann klappt (und wenn ja, wie parke ich eine neue Version drauf wenn awdflash.exe der Meinung ist, dass nicht machen zu wollen) ?
Evtl. ist ja auch der Prozessor bei 2500Mhz am Maximum angelangt und er zeigt das mit der seltsamen boot Geschwindigkeit (ach ja, bei der ASUS AI-Uebertaktung von 10% zeigt das BIOS noch die richtig speed von 2200Mhz).
Zum spielen reicht natuerlich auch schon default speed vom X2 3800, aber fuer folding@home wuerde ich gerne das max. rausholen

Bis 1,38 Volt hat sich nix mehr an der maximalen taktung verändert also hab ichs sein lassen.
Ich wußte damals noch nicht das die besten FX Prozessoren mit 1.4 bis 1.45Volt laufen.
Mit deinen Vcore 1,4375V musstes du da schon wesentlich höher gehen als ich, also würde ich mal sagen, ende der Fahnenstange.
Viel mehr wirst du da nicht mehr rausholen können.
Bei mir geht mit bissel Glück vieleicht noch 2,6-2,65Ghz aber dann ist denke ich auch schluß.
Es gibt allerdings leute die den 3800 auf knapp 3Ghz gebracht haben, der hat aber nicht verraten wie hoch dazu die Vcore eingestellt war geschweige denn wie lange der Prozessor auf so hohen Takt lief

Hallo,
ich habe diese Konfiguration an 8.9.2006 zusammengestellt und gekauft.
Im laufe der Zeit bekam das Board im BIOS Probleme die 5 Festplatten beim Starten zu erkennen.
Daher erfolgte eine Ausllagerung auf EXTERN-USB.
End Juni-Anfang Juli 2007 war es nicht mehr möglich im BIOS beim starten die beiden DVD-Lwk zu erkennen.und anzumelden.
Am Donnerstag den 16.8.2007 bekam ich per Monitor die Meldung "Kein Signal"
Ein Umstecken der beiden Grafikkarten sowie der Solobetrieb brachten kein Erfolg.
Ab zum Computerhändler:
Diagnose: Das Board ist defekt sowie die erste SLI-Grafikkarte.
Mit einem neuen langsameren ASUS-Board ( es war das letzte 939ner Sockel-Board was der Händler auftreiben konnte) A8R-MVP betreibe ich mit der 2. SLI-Grafikkarte.
Leider hat drei Tage später der erste PCI-E-Slot den Geist aufgegeben.

Grafikkarte: 2 MSI NX7600GT 256Byte im SLI-Modus

Sonstiges: 1 SATA (System) und 2 ATA-Festplatten, 3 Externe Festplatten (USB)
Monitor Simens (Röhre) 22 Zoll
1 DVD-Lwk.
1 DVD-Brenner (48)
Meine Erfahrungen mit dem Mainboard:
Hallo,
ich habe diese Konfiguration an 8.9.2006 zusammengestellt und gekauft.
Im laufe der Zeit bekam das Board im BIOS Probleme die 5 Festplatten beim Starten zu erkennen.
Daher erfolgte eine Ausllagerung auf EXTERN-USB.
End Juni-Anfang Juli 2007 war es nicht mehr möglich im BIOS beim starten die beiden DVD-Lwk zu erkennen.und anzumelden.
