65nm AMD ab Oktober im Handel !

According to Toralf Gueldner, director of production at AMD's Dresden fabs, the company has been able to produce 65 nm products since June.
This has been followed by 'full flow' this month [September 2006] and will be followed by serious 65 nm shipments in October.

We also spoke about the move to .65nm manufacturing process with the Opteron now moved to it and the Athlon64 line-up following in the next few months. Dr. Kadir emphasized on AMD’s ability to quickly shift to 42nm process in the future.

Let's be clear about this, full flow this month means just that, the fabs are flowing fully, this does not mean the wafers are coming out of the fabs yet. It takes about 12 weeks from the time a wafer goes in to the fab to the time it comes out with pretty pictures drawn on it.

This means if they turned the tap on in early September as Tony wrote, you won't be seeing chips with smaller pretty pictures drawn on them until late in Q4. If the timing was exact, you can expect them in early December, which fits in exactly with what AMD has been saying all along.
