ATI hat sein CATALYST Grafikkarten-Treiberpaket in der Version 6.12 zum Download freigegeben. Voraussetzung für das CATALYST Control Center (CCC*) ist ein installiertes Microsoft .NET Framework. Eine aktuelle Version des .NET Framework kann man über die Microsoft <a href="http://update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/v6"target="b">Windows Update</a> Seite beziehen. Seit dem Catalyst 5.6 bietet ATi erstmals eine speziell für Notebooks angepasste Version des Grafiktreibers raus, so dass man nicht mehr auf vom Notebook-Hersteller angepasste Treiber angewiesen ist. Der Catalyst Mobility soll in erster Linie zu einer längeren Akkulaufzeit beitragen.

Das hört sich verdammt gut an ...

Wird Windows 2000 von den Treibern jetzt gar nicht mehr unterstützt? Was soll das denn?
Zum Vergleich:

• 6-11_xp-2k_dd_ccc_wdm_enu_37616.exe und 6-12_xp_dd_ccc_wdm_enu_38463.exe

Nach der Auswahl von Windows 2000 wird man neuerdings zum Catalyst 6.2 geleitet!?!
Ich habe gerade nachgeschaut und festgestellt, dass Windows 2000 zum letzten Mal beim Catalyst 6.5 in den Treiberanmerkungen (Release Notes) als unterstütztes Betriebssystem aufgeführt worden ist.
Da verstehe ich jetzt nicht, weshalb dennoch bis einschließlich Catalyst 6.11 immer "_xp-2k_" im Dateinamen der Treiber zu finden war.

Der Catalyst Mobility ist doch für den Großteil von uns Europäern vollkommen nutzlos, weil er nur eine sehr begrenzte Auswahl an Herstellern unterstützt:

Abgesehen von Fujitsu Siemens und MSI sind diese Hersteller kaum oder gar nicht am europäischen Markt mit Notebooks vertreten. Doch nur bei einem Modell dieser Hersteller kann man den Catalyst Mobility installieren. Super!

2000 und XP ist doch eh der selbe Brei, selbes Treibermodell alles. Somit XP Treiber = 2000
Treiber.


Was mir aber mal wieder auffällt ist das ATI der totale Schnarchnasenverein ist, oder warum
machen die noch immer Werbung auf ihrer Seite für die X850 und X700 GPU?? Weis ATI
etwa nicht das sie schon lange eine Generation weiter sind?

Irgendwie werden die Punkte unter "resolved issues" immer weniger, kann das sein?
Das ist doch keine neue Version, sondern höchstens ein kleines Update zum 6.11er (der ja auch nur minimale Verbesserungen gegenüber dem 6.10er hatte).

Naja ich installier den jedenfalls net, wenns nicht unbedingt nötig ist.

Weiß wer, was das für einen Nutzen/ Auswirkungen hat?

Ohne jetzt genauer recherchiert zu haben - gibt es eigentlich diese "Catalyst Software Suite" auch mit einem deutschsprachigen CCC? Ich kann auf der ati.de nur einmal diese Suite auswählen, und die liefert meines Wissens das englischsprachige CCC mit - lädt man dagegen das CCC extra herunter, kann man die deutsche Version wählen.

Naja, also prinzipiell unterstützt dieses Feature die CPU beim Video-Decoding, und bei mir klappt das mit PowerDVD auch. Ob Crossfire die CPU jetzt noch mehr entlastet, oder dieser Treiber die Beschleunigung unter Crossfire überhaupt erst ermöglicht, kann Dir nur jemand sagen, der es nutzt.

wenn ich mal einen wunsch frei hätte dann so ne update funktion in dem treiber... wo man auf update drückt und der rest geht automatisch .... wenn man runterläd und drüberbügelt hat man immer ein schlechtes gewissen weil man eigentlich deinstallieren sollte....

hasse dieses "Gewissen" ... sollte mindestens so verboten werden wie killerspiele

das find ich auch ganz toll.
Hab schon vor 1 oder 2 Monaten ATI angeschrieben - Antwort kam bisher keine.
Zur Zeit machen´s die einem echt leicht zur Konkurrenz zu wechseln da gibts sogar noch aktuelle Win98-Treiber...

Also,

der Catalyst Mobile bringt auf jeden Fall was, man darf nur nicht diesen Kompatibilitäts-Dingens ausführen.

Und ne deutsche Version gibts auch, dazu musst du den Treiber und das CCC allerdings getrennt runterladen.

Was soll mir der Mobiltreiber bringen, wenn ich ihn aus oben genannten Gründen gar nicht installieren kann?

Also mein Gericom EgoGT ist laut Support eigentlich von MSI. Habe seither auch keinerlei Probleme mit dem "Validation Utility" für meine Mobility Radeon 9800.

Ich hab jetzt mein 2. Acer, das steht da ach net in der Liste, das Prüfprogramm schlägt auch fehl, aber der Treiber geht einwandfrei?! Warum also die Aufregung?!

Ich rege mich doch nicht auf. Aber diese Praktik seitens ATI bei den Mobiltreibern ist einfach saudämlich.

Auf meinen HP-Notebooks kann ich den Treiber leider nicht installieren.

Gehen da die normalen Treiber? Wenn JA, dann liegt die Schuld aber bei HP, da dann dort wohl Desktop-Chips ohne Powerplay verbaut sein dürften (so auch bei FSC, da gibts im CCC schlicht und einfach kein Powerplay...).

Die normalen Catalyst-Treiber kann man auch nicht installieren, nein.

POWERPLAY ist hingegen aktiv und funktioniert auch (Senkung des GPU-Taktes).

Komisch. U.U eine Bios-Sperre seitens HP?! Was anderes kann ich mir net erklären. Vll, das keiner mit den Treibern rumpfuscht...

Ich weiß es leider auch nicht.

Mich verwundert es aber sehr, dass der Mobiltreiber auf deinen Acer-Notebooks lauffähig ist.

Ich habe es bei meinem HTPC mit einer 9250se folgendermaßen gemacht. Entpacken und dann über Gerätemanager "Den zu installierenden Treiber selber wählen" den richtigen Treiber installiert.
ICh hatte das Problem das ich XP MCE2005 benutze und mir Ati sagte das ich dann mindestens eine 9500 brauche da die 9250 nciht MCE unterstütze. Es gibt aber Treiber für die 9250se für XP normal und bei mir kam auch die Fehlermeldung das keine passende Hardware installiert sei. Also das ganze manuell gemacht und siehe da seit 4 monaten läuft der Rechner einwandfrei.

Das ist eine Riesensauerei was ATI in letzter Zeit macht. Der Techniker am Telefon sagte mir ich müsste für MCE eine neue Graka kaufen,w asich auch beinahe gemacht hätte.

Jetzt mal halblang, so schlecht sind die Treiber von ATi/AMD doch nicht?

Okay, die Mobility-Treiber laufen nicht auf allen Notebooks, aber das is bei NV auch nicht anders, und da weiß doch keiner, welcher Beta-Alpha-Final Treiber gerade aktuell ist. Das die Treiber auf meinen Acer-Books laufen find ich natürlich klasse, aber ich habe die Treiber auch schon auf anderen Books laufen sehen. Das liegt def. nicht an Acer, sondern eher an den verbauten Chips.

Aber immer gleich wieder auf AMD gedroschen.

ne 9250 SE is halt mal ne uralte Billig-Grafik, was bringt da ein neuerer Treiber? Für nen Trabbi bekommste auch keine Ersatzteile.
