AMD Joins Hyperion Partner Program as Hyperion Readies Hyperion System 9 Essbase Analytics and Hyperion System 9 Enterprise Analytics for AMD64 Windows Systems

SANTA CLARA, Calif.-Building on its reputation as the first provider of analytics software to support 64-bit platforms, Hyperion (Nasdaq Global Select:HYSL), the global leader in Business Performance Management (BPM) software, today announced it is porting its Hyperion System 9 analytics software to the latest AMD Opteron processors. As a result of this new collaboration between Hyperion and AMD, enterprise users who run their Business Intelligence (BI) infrastructure on Microsoft Windows systems powered by AMD Opteron processors will realize dramatic productivity improvements.

The new access to 64-bit versions of Essbase Analytics and Enterprise Analytics allows Hyperion and AMD customers to run larger analytical models in less time, extend the potential size of their analytic applications, increase the number of concurrent users, and boost the number of analytic applications running at any given time. Tests show a 50% reduction in processing time for some Enterprise Analytics file loads when moving from current 32-bit processors to 64-bit processors. 1

This is especially interesting to joint Hyperion/AMD customers as AMD Opteron processors, which are both 32- and 64-bit compatible, allow customers the choice to run whichever version of Essbase Analytics or Enterprise Analytics best suits their needs.

“Enterprises are facing simultaneous explosions in data volume and user populations, so a move to powerful and scalable 64-bit architectures is a natural next step,” said Rich Clayton, vice president of product marketing at Hyperion. “Porting to the AMD64 computing platform is part of Hyperion’s commitment to support the industry’s most advanced platforms, so customers always have sufficient headroom, even as they scale their Hyperion BI solutions to hundreds and even thousands of users.”

Via the massively scalable Essbase Analytics and Enterprise Analytics modules, Hyperion System 9 delivers market-leading advanced analytics for seamless reporting against both relational and multidimensional data sources. The software enables enterprises to understand customer segments and behavior patterns, rapidly discover trends and highlights in large datasets, support thousands of simultaneous users, reduce costs, and rely on robust security protections.

“The AMD Opteron processor features industry-leading performance-per-watt and outstanding virtualization capabilities designed to run the most demanding enterprise applications,” said Terri Hall, vice president, Software Alliances and Solutions, AMD. “We are pleased to see Hyperion, a recognized leader in BPM and BI, leverage the performance benefits enabled by AMD's unique Direct Connect Architecture to help our mutual customers gain clear and precise business insights faster than ever before.”
