CeBIT, Hannover, March 2007 – Asetek, the market leader of thermal management solutions for semiconductors and computer systems will demonstrate a high-performance, yet low noise gaming PC built on Asetek’s Low Cost Liquid Cooling (LCLC) and the AMD Quad FX platform with Dual Socket Direct Connect Architecture (DSDC). The PC will be showcased at the World Cyber Game area in Hall 22, Stand A1 during CeBIT.

The system on display features liquid cooling of both CPUs and GPUs, and the total heat removal from these components is thereby close to 0,5 kW!

”We see an increasing demand from gamers that they do not want noisy systems. With the introduction of AMD’s 2-socket enthusiast platform coupled with the capability to upgrade to 8 cores in 2007, we believe AMD will claim the performance lead and the demand for our cooling solutions will be even bigger. Combined with the thermal and acoustic challenges a multi-processor system imposes, we built the gaming PC on this platform”

“Due to the high performance of our LCLC we are able to keep system level acoustics as low as 30 dB(A) while keeping the GPUs and graphics memory 15°C lower than with the stock cooler. Lower temperatures are essential for maximizing the performance of the graphics cards and thereby achieving an even better gaming experience,” says André S. Eriksen, CEO at Asetek.

The LCLC solution is applicable to all OEMs and system integrators who acknowledge that low noise and smaller form factors have a place in the digital future. Being self-contained and highly reliable with integrated pump, reservoir, and cold plate in one ultra-compact device, the Asetek LCLC offers extended performance at reduced acoustics.

“As multi-threaded games and applications become more prevalent, the AMD Quad FX platform is uniquely designed for enthusiasts to take advantage of all the threads in software applications today,” said Leslie Sobon, director, Desktop Product and Brand Management, AMD.

“As systems scale to have more cores and GPUs, improving the gaming experience with a deep immersion into a world of graphics and sound can be impaired by the noise level from high-end gaming systems, making the need for innovative cooling options imperative. We see great potential for liquid cooling in this space and applaud the efforts of Asetek to develop powerful and low-noise liquid cooling solutions”
