ELSA-Modems und Linux-Distribitonen

Schon möglich das D... falsch geschrieben ist. Weiß jemand welches Linux das ELSA Microlink 56K PCI unterstützt Bei SuseLinux 7.3 und Mandrake 8.1 gibt es kein Support . Das Linux soll hauptsächlich für Internetsurfen und Email sein, also nicht viel komplizierter als die beiden oben genannten Versionen!!!

Hm es ist eigentlich ziemlich egal welche distri du nutzt du musst die treiber installiert haben entweder als modul geladen oder im kernel einkompiliert. Bei einem modem würde ich dir empfehlen es als Modul zu machen (per modconf).

Ansonten kann es natürlich noch sein das es für dein Modem keinen Treiber gibt das kann z.B. sein wenn ELSA keine eigenen Linux treiber schreibt oder die technik nicht offenlegt damit andere treiber schreiben können.

Hast du schonmal auf der ELSA seite geschaut ob die Linux Treiber zur verfügung stellen?

What is the problem?
The ISDN-Adapter ELSA Microlink ISDN USB is not supportet in Linux. So it's impossible for owners of this device to use the Internet in Linux.

What does ELSA say?
They don't care about it. They don't develop any Linux-drivers at all. I wrote several eMails to them.
They even don't want to give out any specification about the device to help the linux-community to write a driver.

Is there any driver in development?
Maybe SUSE want's to write a driver, but they also don't get any help from ELSA.

I read somewhere that it's possible to use this device like a serial TA.
That is NOT true. It was a mistake from Karsten Keil. He wrote this in the ISDN4Linux-Mailinglist.

Sadly, this wrong information found it's way into some docs. If you find this information, inform the people that it's wrong.

Is there any possibility to write a driver without ELSAs help?
It might be possible to monitor the device in Windows-environment, but it's not very easy.
There is a tool called USB Snoopy and here are some logfiles:
conn.log & disc.log -> only connection/only disconnection
download.zip -> i already was connected and start a download with flasget and file was splitted in 10 parts.

This page should be a place to provide all information about the issue and maybe to find someone who is willing to write a driver.
There are quite a lot of people waiting for the driver and would like to be beta-testers and provide help.

Ne sieht leider wirklich nicht so als wenn ELSA, passende Treiber anbietet(Hab nochmal nachgeschaut) :'(. Ich dachte das ein Treiber immerhin in bestimmte Distributionen untergebracht ist

Ich weiß schon wo das endet- das ich versuchen werde das Modem einzutauschen gegen eines von Robotics . ELSA will anscheinend nix mit Linux zu tun haben, das ist auch bei sämtlichen anderen Geräten von ELSA so ELSA-Team ich bin enttäuscht . Was an Microschrott so toll sein soll- mehr Geld !

Ich hoffe das einer mit mir tauschen wird .
Alle gleichwertigen Modems von Robotics anbieten (Die Version des Mircolink PCI hat eine höhere Dowloadrate als der 56K-Standard ).
Es müsste die HSF-Version sein(Es gibt noch V1.0, HCF...), wenn keiner eines hat mit überdurchschnittlichen Werten, würde auch eines mit dem V.92-Standard/PCI (statt V.90) gehen.
