Das freie Chatprogramm Pidgin wurde in der Version 2.5.7 veröffentlicht. Seit der letzten Version wurden Login-Probleme mit dem Yahoo!-Protokoll sowie einige kleinere Fehler behoben.
Pidgin unterstützt derzeit folgende Protokolle: <ul><li>AIM</li><li>Bonjour</li><li>Gadu-Gadu</li><li>Google Talk</li><li>Groupwise</li><li>ICQ</li><li>IRC</li><li>MSN</li><li>MySpaceIM</li><li>QQ</li><li>SILC</li><li>SIMPLE</li><li>Sametime</li><li>XMPP</li><li>Yahoo!</li><li>Zephyr</li></ul><strong>Changelog 2.5.6 zu 2.5.7:</strong><ul><li style="font-size: smaller;">Yahoo Protocol 16 support, including new HTTPS login method; this should fix a number of login problems that have recently cropped up. (Sulabh Mahajan, Mike "Maiku" Ruprecht)</li><li style="font-size: smaller;">Only display the AIM "Unable to Retrieve Buddy List" message once per connection.
