Das Programm unterstützt grundsätzlich die Chat-Protokolle von AIM, ICQ, Google Talk, Jabber/XMPP, MSN Messenger, Yahoo!, Bonjour, Gadu-Gadu, IRC, Novell GroupWise Messenger, QQ, Lotus Sametime, SILC, SIMPLE, MySpaceIM, und Zephyr - weitere stehen über Plugins zur Verfügung. Aktuell werden 70 Sprachen unterstützt.
Pidgin läuft unter Windows ab Windows 2000, Mac OS X ab 10.4 und Linux.

bei mir hat das update auf 2.7.6 erstmal alle icons zerhauen und das gtk+ wird runtergeladen, nix im setup enthalten. dafür geht das msn plug in wieder, manchmal leider auch nicht...

MSN geht nun wieder aber SSL bei ICQ ist nach wie vor nicht möglich

Bin mir nicht sicher, ob ich dich verstehe. Ich zitiere mal von der Herstellerseite:
Laut dem sind die notwendigen GTK+ Komponenten enthalten. Eine zusätzliche Installation von GTK+ ist also nicht notwendig.
(Ich selber nutze Pidgin nicht.)

dann lass ich mal ein bild sprechen
und zum thema gtk+ : im verlinkten file war das die kleine version mit ~9mb, die mit gtk ist aber schlappe ~26mb gross, ansonsten gilt: ist gtk+ nicht da, ist der haken in download optional component drin. aber btw ich wusste gar nicht das es eine solche komplette" auch gibt
however, heute kam dann mal eben die 2.7.7 raus, wird wohl seinen grund gehabt haben...
Das Problem mit den Icons hatte ich noch nie - wie hast du denn die Buddy-Liste eingestellt, dass sie so aussieht? In meinem Fenster gibt es an diesen Stellen gar keine Icons.
Läuft es mit Pidgin 2.7.7 wieder?
Das mit dem optional herunterladbaren GTK+ während der Installation von Pidgin wurde vor ein paar Versionen eingeführt, ich glaube, seit es lokal und nicht mehr systemweit installiert wird. Ich verwende eigentlich immer den Offline-Installer, also die Version mit GTK+, die auf der folgenden Seite im rechten unteren Bereich verlinkt ist: http://pidgin.im/download/windows/
Läuft es mit Pidgin 2.7.7 wieder?
Das mit dem optional herunterladbaren GTK+ während der Installation von Pidgin wurde vor ein paar Versionen eingeführt, ich glaube, seit es lokal und nicht mehr systemweit installiert wird. Ich verwende eigentlich immer den Offline-Installer, also die Version mit GTK+, die auf der folgenden Seite im rechten unteren Bereich verlinkt ist: http://pidgin.im/download/windows/

habe es raus gefunden, lag an einem plug in, asche auf mein haupt...
aber es hat mich zu miranda getrieben und das ist in Sachen Konfigurierbarkeit (incl. jabber server acc. verwaltung,OTR ect.) und plug-ins um Welten schöner, nur noch etwas komplizierter einzustellen. Aber wenn man den Dreh erst mal raus hat geht es eigentlich. Nur an native kompilierten 64-bit Messenger´n scheint es noch etwas zu hapern mit der Nutzbarkeit.
@ Dr@ wäre durchaus sinnvoll, besten Dank.
BTW. da es mir gerade einfällt: Beim CDBurnerXP gibt es auch eine 64-bit Version und beide Versionen auch als minimal" Installation (Ohne OpenCandy) nur mal so zur Info, weil gut versteckt
