<div class="newsfloatleft"><a href="http://www.virtualbox.org/"><img src="http://www.planet3dnow.de/photoplog/images/54308/1_VBox_Logo.png" border="1" alt="VirtualBox"></a></div>Für die kostenlose Virtualisierungssoftware VirtualBox wurde der Bugfix-Release 4.0.12 veröffentlicht, mit dem ein paar Fehler behoben werden. Vor der Version 4 existierten zwei verschiedene Pakete. Zum einen die Closed-Source-Variante ("full binary") und zum anderen die "Open Source Edition" (OSE), der ein paar Funktionen vorenthalten blieben. Seit der Version 4 stehen allen Nutzern sämtliche Funktionen zur Verfügung, wobei die zuvor der Closed-Source-Variante vorbehaltenen über das Extension Pack bereitgestellt werden.
VirtualBox ist für Windows, Mac OS X, Linux und Solaris verfügbar. Zu den unterstützten Gastsystemen zählen neben Windows, Mac OS X, Linux und Solaris auch OS/2, DOS und einige BSD-Derivate.<p style="clear:left">
