Die kostenlose Virtualisierungssoftware VirtualBox wurde in der neuen Version 3.1.0 veröffentlicht. Die neue Version bietet neben zahlreichen Bugfixes auch einige neue Funktionen wie Live-Migration und eine experimentelle EFI-Unterstützung.
VirtualBox ist für Windows, Mac OS X, Linux und Solaris verfügbar. Zu den unterstützten Gastsystemen zählen neben Windows, Linux und Solaris auch OS/2, DOS und einige BSD-Derivate.

Also ich nutze VirtualBox seit Version 1-irgendwas auf meinem PC und muss sagen, ich bin für meine Zwecke (Softwarepflege eines alten Projekts .NET 1.1) sehr zufrieden damit. Ich habe noch keinen Grund gesehen, ins prof./kommerzielle Lager zu wechseln.
Auf meinem Mac nutze ich allerdings Parallels 4.0. In letzter Zeit war ich damit nicht mehr so zufrieden, da ich Probleme mit USB-Sticks in der VM und dem optischen Laufwerk hatte. Hat jemand Erfahrungen mit VirtualBox auf dem Mac?

3.1 vergisst bei mir unter win7 64bit leider immer den gespeicherten zustand meiner VMs. Kurz nach dem schliessen des applikationsfensters werden alle VMs ausgeschaltet. Musste deshalb auf 3.0.12 zurück. Hat sonst noch jemand dieses phänomen?
