Call for Presentation Proposals

For the third consecutive year, AMD invites computing innovators, developers and researchers in the rapidly growing field of heterogeneous computing to submit their latest work and research findings in the form of archival presentations for AMD’s annual developer summit. Chosen presenters will have an opportunity to share their breakthrough research findings, software advances and innovative applications with summit attendees while garnering support for industry standards, and networking with technical leaders, developers and academics that will help advance the adoption of this rapidly developing and game changing technology.

We are pleased to announce that the call for presentation proposals is now open for AMD’s 2013 Developer Summit. If this marks your second or third time attending our annual developer summit, you’ll notice we’re moving the location from Bellevue, Washington to the San Jose McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, California. We’re also changing the date from mid-June to November 11-14.

As I said, the call for presentations begins today and all submissions must be received by March 15th. Proposals should be less than 4,000 characters in length and can be submitted on the submission website. You will be asked to create an account on the submission website before you are able to submit your proposal. A content review committee will review all proposals and selected candidates will be notified by email on or before April 26th.
The inaugural AFDS event was an extraordinary success and we continued building upon that success last year. We had attendees from over 35 countries, counting those who were in Bellevue and those that attended via the interactive AFDS-D web-based platform. There were more than 150 technical sessions coupled with exciting keynote presentations by Microsoft, ARM, Adobe, and Cloudera as well as AMD. We fully expect to sustain that growth this year.

As I reflect back, one of the highlights from last year was the announcement of the HSA (Heterogeneous System Architecture) Foundation by Founders: AMD, ARM, Imagination, MediaTek. Qualcomm, Samsung and Texas Instruments. Since the announcement, the HSA Foundation has grown to over 25 members We expect that many HSA Foundation members will be participating again this year and based on the growth of the HSA Foundation their contributions will demonstrate the broadening adoption of heterogeneous computing technology.

In conjunction with the expanding breadth of application development and research into this rapidly developing, game changing heterogeneous computing technology, we’re broadening the number of topic areas for this year.
Presentation proposals are invited from the following areas:

  • Big Data
  • Cloud Computing and services
  • Web Technologies
  • Graphics & Visual Computing
  • Game development
  • Innovative Client Experiences
  • Mobil computing
  • Heterogeneous Computing
  • Audio & Multimedia processing
  • Visualization & virtualization
  • Gestural & other new User Interface designs
  • Application Development Tools
I would encourage you to submit your proposals early so you don’t forget. I expect that with the growth of the HSA Foundation and increasing interest in the summit, the event will attract many more submissions, so you’ll want to get yours in soon! Thank you and we look forward to reviewing your submission and watching your presentation at the AMD 2013 Developer Summit.
