Ich habe mir eine XFX R9 290X Black Edition bestellt, und werde mit dem gleichen System (sobald Karte und Treiber verfügbar sind) nochmal die Mantle und DX11 Performance messen. Mal sehen wie sich der doch recht alte i5 mit Mantle und der R9 so macht.
 
Also ein Benchmark ist es eigentlich nicht. Der Hersteller selbst bezeichnet es im Kleingedruckten als Tech Demo:
Star Swarm is a real-time demo of Oxide Games’ Nitrous engine, which pits two AI-controlled fleets against each other in a furious space battle. Originally conceived as an internal stress test, (...) The simulation in Star Swarm shows off Nitrous’ ability to have thousands of individual units onscreen at once, each running their own physics, AI, pathfinding, and threat assessments. (...) Note that Star Swarm is not a deterministic simulation - the AI and everything else is being computed in real time, so you will get slightly different results from multiple executions even on the same hardware.
Es gibt demnach keine festen Wegpunkte der Akteure. Der "Benchmark" läuft jedes Mal ein bisschen anders ab.

Gefällt mir bisher gar nicht, bis auf, dass man bis 10FPS (runter) kein Ruckeln wahr nimmt. *buck*

Also ein Benchmark ist es eigentlich nicht. Der Hersteller selbst bezeichnet es im Kleingedruckten als Tech Demo:Es gibt demnach keine festen Wegpunkte der Akteure. Der "Benchmark" läuft jedes Mal ein bisschen anders ab.

stimmt wohl, die frametime find ich schon interessanter:

Ist da vielleicht internes Downsampling am Werk?

Gibt es einen Performance-Unterschied, wenn du die angeblichen 1920x1080 mit den realen 1600x900 vergleichst? Wenn es internes Downsampling ist, müsste 1920x1080 langsamer sein. Ist beides gleich schnell, ist es ein Bug und es werden tatsächlich "nur" 1600x900 berechnet/dargestellt.

Deine HD7970 GHz (Firmware) scheint aber nicht so zu funktionieren wie es soll?
Sicher das die .bin Datei kein anderes PowerLimit drin hat (RBE v7) ?

Was mir beim Vergleich mit CrossfireX aufgefallen ist, mit Mantel sind die max FPS bei 60-70FPS. Mit D3D gehen sie bis zu 120-130FPS hoch.
Trotzdem bringt Mantel deutlich mehr FPS (avg).
Die Frametime Dateien sind auch interessant, am Anfang geht ein einzelnes FPS durch die Decke: D3D=4000FPS Mantle=8000FPS.

Das Benchen ist übrigens teuer, im Hauptfenster wird die GPU schon ausgelastet.

Das lief soweit normal durch aber bei den min. fps war der Unterschied uebel. Bei DirectX fiel sie auf 4-5fps, bei Mantle auf ca. 15-17fps und es lief allgemein deutlich fluessiger.
Allerdings lief jeder Test nur 1x durch. *g*

Der Karte habe ich aber nur die Firmware der GHz Edition verpasst und kann so durch die Backup Firmware zwischen beiden hin und her schalten. Beim Treiber bleibt alles bei Standard. Die Karte an sich hat auch noch nen Wasserkuehler drauf.

Das CCC funktioniert bei mir bestens allerdings deinstalliere ich bei Beta Treibern immer den vorherigen und boote die Kiste neu.

Bei mir funktioniert das CCC so, wie es soll. Und auch bei nem Kumpel läufts.

Vielleicht nochmal sauber alles deinstallieren und frisch drauf?
 
Ich habe vorher den 13.12 deinstalliert, runtergefahren und den 14.1 neu installiert. Das mit dem CCC hatte ich ewig nicht mehr. Das letzte mal mit Win XP.

Trotzdem sollten es mehr FPS mit dem GHz Bios sein, ich meinte nicht das Powerlimit im Catalyst Treiber, sondern das hier:

Beim GHz Bios sind es nur 204W anstatt 217W wie meine XFX Karten von Werk aus haben. ;)

Inzwischen gab es ja ein Update, die Avg FPS sind Allgemein etwas niedriger (~4FPS).

Ich habe es mit der Express Deinstallation gemacht, hat trotzdem nicht geholfen. Wurscht, es ist eh eine Windows Neuinstallation fällig.

Ich schau, dass immer die gleichen Einstellungen genutzt werden beim Eigenen Vergleich, ob das jetzt 4.1GHz oder 4.2GHz sind macht den Braten nicht Fett (nur dich selbst).

(Nach mehreren Durchläufen war hier DirectX sogar immer minimal schneller.)


Dann habe ich zusätzlich die CPU Frequenz noch auf 800 MHz limitiert:

Catalyst 14.1 Mantle:
Average FPS: 13.48

Nun ist das DirectX Ergebnis also erstmals eingebrochen, während das Mantle Ergebnis unverändert bleibt.

Resultat:
Die iGPU von Kabini ist zu schwach um wirklich von Mantle profitieren zu können. *buck*
Aber durch die geringere CPU-Last sollte zumindest die Effizienz steigen.
