The 1.2GHz mobile AMD Athlon 4 processor delivers high performance on a wide range of business productivity and multimedia applications. The mobile AMD Duron processor offers a robust combination of performance and features for value notebook PCs. Both new AMD mobile processors are compatible with the Microsoft® Windows® XP operating system, and deliver exceptional performance on a wide range of industry-leading software.
Compaq Computer Corporation is expected to offer notebook PCs based on the 1.2GHz mobile AMD Athlon 4 and 950MHz mobile AMD Duron processors later this quarter.

Together, the new mobile processors and Windows XP provide outstanding performance improvements in communications and digital media applications,” said Ed Ellett, vice president of marketing for AMD’s Computation Products Group. “AMD mobile processors continue to excel in the marketplace since their introduction earlier this year. With the battery-saving features provided by AMD PowerNow! technology, these processors have enabled AMD to increase its momentum in the notebook PC market.”

Availability Compaq plans to feature AMD mobile processors in its Compaq Presario 700 notebook series. The Presario 700 can be ordered from the Compaq Web site at http://www.athome.compaq.com, and “Built for You” kiosks located in participating retailers, beginning Nov. 21.
