"Taipei, Taiwan, January 4, 2002 /Various Agencies --- Desktop PCs can now be supplied with top-quality and brand name DDR333 memory modules from Transcend. Transcend announced today the availability of 184-pin DDR333 DIMMs for Desktop PCs in 128, 256, and 512MB capacities. With a higher data transfer rate and better performance than DDR266 DIMMs, Transcend’s DDR333 modules will bring users performance beyond anything previously experienced.
In 2001, the demand for DDR DIMMs had gradually increased as chipsets and motherboards that support DDR modules were progressively released. The 2002 roadmaps for Desktop PC manufacturers indicate a rapid changeover to systems that require DDR memory modules. Some chipset manufacturers such as SiS already provide products that support DDR333. In response to these market trends and to satisfy consumer demands, Transcend has developed a series of DDR333 DIMMs for Desktop PCs. Transcend’s DDR333 DIMMs have been successfully tested on the SiS system platform, and obtained SiS quality certification and approval. DDR333 DIMMs from Transcend operate at a peak bandwidth of 2.7GB per second. Thus, DDR333 DIMMs have a data transfer rate 2.5 times higher than conventional SDRAM modules, and 25% faster than DDR266 modules. Due to this higher speed, DDR333 DIMMs can enhance overall system performance by more than 10% over systems that use DDR266."
