Einux introduces the Acceleron64(tm) family of 64-bit dual processor AMD Opteron(tm)-based rackmount servers including the A1840, the first Enterprise-class Opteron(tm)-based server and the A1820, the first Carrier-class Opteron(tm)-based server. Based on AMD’s latest 8th generation Opteron(tm) processors, the Acceleron64(tm) servers are designed to provide optimized 64-bit performance while maintaining backward compatibility to 32-bit x86 applications.

One of the main concerns of 1U servers is how to cool the heat generated by high performance processors such as the Opteron(tm). The Acceleron64(tm) servers have been engineered to perform optimally in high temperature environments utilizing Einux’s patent-pending ServerKool(tm) technology, which allow the Acceleron64(tm) servers to perform in up to an unprecedented 104 degrees Fahrenheit (40 degrees Celcius) operating temperatures.

Designed with the mission-critical Enterprise in mind, the Acceleron64(tm) A1840 is the first 1U server with support for 4 hot-swappable hard drives making it perfect for enterprise applications requiring the highest data integrity. Plus RAID 5 can be added for ultimate data integrity and redundancy and Fibre Channel and iSCSI SANs connectivity to external storage arrays can be added as an option making it perfect for ERP, database and data-intensive applications. Other advanced features include support for up to12 GB of DDR333 ECC memory, a dual channel Ultra 320 SCSI controller, dual Gigabit Ethernet network interfaces, hot-swappable cooling fans and a cold-swap 350 Watt power supply, another industry first. The Acceleron64(tm) A1840 specifications are as follows:

Dual AMD Opteron(tm) processors with 1MB cache
Supports up to 12GB of DDR333 ECC Registered Memory
4 Hot-Swappable SCSI SCA Drive Bays
    Ultra 320 SCSI HD Controller
Internal storage capacity up to 546.8GB
    Dual Gigabit Ethernet network interfaces
2 x USB 2.0, Serial and Parallel ports
    1U Rackmount chassis (Dimensions: 1.75”H x 19” W x 27.9”D)
    Cold-swap 350 Watt Power Supply
    3 x Hot-Swap Blower Cooling Fans
    Patent-pending ServerKool(tm) cooling technology

For the highest availability possible, the Acceleron64(tm) A1820 features Carrier-grade features including the first 1U server with a hot-swappable 350W+350W redundant power supply system. Other features include support for up to12 GB of DDR333 ECC memory, 2 hot-swappable SCSI drives, a dual channel Ultra 320 SCSI controller, dual Gigabit Ethernet network interfaces and hot-swappable cooling fans making the A1820 perfect for applications which the require the highest availability and reliability such as those in the telecom and financial industries. The Acceleron64(tm) A1840 specifications are as follows:

Dual AMD Opteron(tm) processors with 1MB cache
Supports up to 12GB of DDR333 ECC Registered Memory
2 Hot-Swappable SCSI SCA Drive Bays
    Ultra 320 SCSI HD Controller
Internal storage capacity up to 546.8GB
    Dual Gigabit Ethernet network interfaces
2 x USB 2.0, Serial and Parallel ports
    1U Rackmount chassis (Dimensions: 1.75”H x 19” W x 23.9”D)
    Redundant hot-swap 350W+350W Power Supplies
    3 x Hot-Swap Blower Cooling Fans
    Patent-pending ServerKool(tm) cooling technology

Einux is currently accepting pre-orders for the Acceleron64(tm) A1840 on a first-come, first-serve basis. Orders will be shipped upon the launch and availability of the Opteron CPUs from AMD, which is expected sometime in the first half of 2003.
