NVIDIA hat mit dem 101.41 eine neue offizielle Beta-Version des ForceWare Grafikkarten-Treiberpaketes für Windows Vista veröffentlicht. Der Treiber bietet nun erstmals DirectX9 SLI-Support für Grafikkarten der GeForce 6 und 7 Serien, der bei vorherigen Vista-Treibern auf GeForce 8 Modellen beschränkt war.
Die INF-Datei des Treibers beinhaltet erstmals auch Einträge für NVIDIAs im April zu erwartende Einsteiger- und Mittelklasse-Modelle auf Basis der GeForce 8 Serie. Das Einsteiger-Segment bedienen dabei offenbar die auf dem G86 basierenden GeForce 8300 GS, 8400 GS und 8500 GT. In der Mittelklasse wird man die auf dem G84 basierenden GeForce 8600 GT und 8600 GTS Modelle antreffen. Neben den derzeitigen Highend-Varianten 8800 GTS und 8800 GTX weist der Treiber ebenfalls auf ein neues G80-Modell hin, die GeForce 8800 Ultra. Wo sich die GeForce 8800 Ultra gegenüber der GTS und GTX leistungsmäßig einordnen wird, lässt sich derzeit allerdings nicht sagen.

For those users that are using Windows Vista and experiencing any problems, NVIDIA has set up the Vista Quality Assurance website to provide access to Beta drivers, updated information and a bug reporting tool for end users to submit their experiences to NVIDIA. Our product managers will be reviewing this information daily and will be contacting users to help resolve any issues they might be experiencing.
