Der kostenlose Media Player Winamp wurde kürzlich in der Version 5.57 veröffentlicht. Das Programm wird seit über zehn Jahren von vielen Benutzern als Standard MP3-Player genutzt und ist damit ein Urgestein der MP3-Erfolgsgeschichte. Winamp steht in vier Geschmacksrichtungen zur Verfügung: Winamp Standard (Lite), Winamp Standard (Full), Winamp Standard (Bundle) und Winamp Pro - die Eigenschaften der jeweiligen Version sind hier übersichtlich dargestellt. Winamp Pro ist die kostenpflichtige Programmversion, welche mit erweiterten Ripp- und Brennfunktionen aufwartet.
In der neuen Version wurden viele Fehler beseitigt und einige Verbesserungen vorgenommen, so hat man u.a. die Kompatibilität zu Windows 7 erhöht indem es nun auch Aero-Thumbnails und eine Taskbar-Integrierung gibt.
Winamp läuft Windows ab Windows 2000.
Update: Kurz nach Erscheinen der Version 5.57 wurde ein Bugfix Release, das u.a. Installations-Probleme unter Windows Vista behebt, nachgereicht.
