Plextor verzichtet auf die Markteinführung des PX-760A

Eigentlich wollte Plextor noch einmal ein wenig an der Geschwindigkeitsschraube drehen und mit dem PX-760A einen internen 18X DVD-ReWriter auf den Markt bringen. Laut der urspünglichen Pressemitteilung sollte der Brenner bereits im November in den Handel gelangen.

Wie nun Heise Online berichtet, scheint Plextor die Markteinführung des PX-760A bis auf Weiteres zurückgestellt zu haben. Hintergrund ist demnach, dass man mit derzeit verfügbaren Rohlingen offenbar keine zufriedenstellende 18X-Schreibqualität zu realisieren vermag, die die hohen internen Qualitätsmaßstäbe von Plextor erfüllt.

Statt dessen hat Plextor nun den PX-755A DVD-ReWriter angekündigt, der sich mit maximal 16X Brenngeschwindigkeit begnügt. Abgesehen davon verfügt der PX-755A über die gleichen von Plextor hervorgehobenen Features wie der PX-760A, u.a. "AUTOSTRATEGY" oder "Media quality check".
