AMD und Intel vor den Zahlen

In dieser Woche werden sowohl AMD, als auch Intel Ihre Geschäftszahlen zum jeweils dritten Quartal 2006 vorlegen. Neben diesen beiden werden allerdings auch die Zahlen einiger anderer Technologie- bzw. Internetfirmen erwartet.

Mit Intel werden am Dienstag die Zahlen von IBM, Motorola und Yahoo! erwartet. Am Mittwoch folgen AMD, sowie Apple, Ebay und Spansion.

Spansion, das frühere Jointventure von AMD und Fujitsu, erwartet dank gestiegener Endpreise beim Flashspeicher eine weitere Verringerung des operativen Verlustes. Allgemein wird sogar erwartet, dass man im nächsten Quartal in die Gewinnzone zurückkehren wird.

Erst in der letzten Woche hatte Spansion bekanntgegeben, dass sowohl AMD, als auch Fujitsu planen Teile ihrer Spansionaktien zu veräußern.

Für AMD erwarten die Analysten im Schnitt einen Umsatz von 1,31 Milliarden Euro und einen Gewinn von 116 Millionen Euro US-Dollar (24 Cent pro Aktie). Im Vorjahresquartal hatte die Computation Product Group bei einem Umsatz von 969 Millionen US-Dollar noch einen Gewinn von 209 Millionen US-Dollar generieren können.

Die Analysten von Lehman Brothers glauben, dass AMD die Gewinnerwartungen sogar noch übertreffen wird und sehen als Katalysator weitere Gewinne bei den OEMs.

"We believe near-term catalysts for AMD include additional OEM contract wins (like Toshiba) and further penetration into existing OEM partners (like Dell, Lenovo, IBM.)"

Weiterhin veröffentlichten diese eine Zusammenfassung ihrer Produkerwartungen für 2007 und 2008.

We expect AMD to introduce quad core products and processors based on 65nm technologies in 2007. Brisbane (AMD Athlon X2), Tyler (AMD Turion 64) and Sherman (AMD Mobile Sempron) are expected to be launched in 1H07. All the three processors are expected to bebuilt on the 65 nm process.

• Brisbane is the successor to Windsor and introduces the K8 Revision G core. The Brisbane core will likely replace all Athlon X2 and Opteron Dual Core Revision E and Revision F processors with a single architecture.

• Tyler is the successor to Taylor and is a Dual Core Socket S1 Mobile CPU with 35W TDP.

• Sherman, the successor to Keene, is a Dual Core Socket S1 Mobile CPU with 25W TDP.

• We also expect AMD Opteron processor, based on the Opteron+ core to be released in 2Q07.

In 2H07, we expect AMD to release Altair, Arcturus, Sparta, Deerhound and Budapest. All of these processors will also be based on 65nm
technology node. Below we provide a brief overview of each.

• We expect Altair (AMD Athlon 64 X4 / FX) to be released in 3Q07. Altair will also be on a 65nm process. Altair is expected to be the first quad core K8L based CPU and will introduce HyperTransport 3.

• Arcturus (AMD Athlon 64 X2), a dual core CPU based around the Antares core, is expected to be released in 4Q07.

• Sparta (AMD Sempron) will be based on the AM2 platform and replace Manila.

• Deerhound (AMD Opteron), a 4 core CPU featuring a shared L2 cache, is expected to run on a Socket F platform.

• Budapest (AMD Athlon X4?) featuring a Quad Core design and the Revision H core is expected in 4Q07.

• Spica, the single core version of the K8L core, may also be released in 4Q07

2008 and Beyond

In 2008, AMD plans on launching Greyhound on a 65nm process. Greyhound is expected to be the first K8L based CPU, featuring 4 cores, and will interface to DDR2 memory, with the K8L core featuring support for FBD and, in a future memory controller revision, DDR3 and FBD2 support.

Zamora, expected to be released in 2H08, is a 4 core CPU on a 65nm process. Zamora will interface to FBDIMM memory and will be based on the K8L architecture featuring 2MB of shared L3 cache and HyperTransport 3.

In 2H08, we also expect AMD to launch Cadiz, a 4 core CPU on 65nm process. Cadiz will interface to DDR2 or DDR3 memory and bebased on the K8L architecture.
