Seit der Vorstellung des Sockel AM3 mit DDR3-Support Anfang des Jahres haben zahlreiche AM3 Mainboard das Licht der Welt erblickt. Allerdings waren das beinahe allesamt Platinen mit AMD Chipsatz: 770, 780G, 785G, 790FX, 790GX und 790X. Lediglich ein Mainboard mit GeForce 6150/nForce 430 Chipsatz hat sich auf den deutschen Markt verirrt.

Das wird sich aber wohl in Kürze ändern, denn MSI hat das neue NF980-G65 für den Sockel AM3 in Taiwan vorgestellt. Es handelt sich dabei um ein ATX-Mainboard mit NVIDIA nForce 980a Chipsatz, der zusätzlich mit einem NF200 Chip kombiniert wurde. Damit beherrscht das Board 3-Way SLI, also SLI mit drei Grafikkarten.
