ALi geht in die Offensive

Mit einem enormen Preiskampf will AcerLabs Inc. seine Marktpositition verbessern und dem kommenden Low-Cost Chipsatz Intel i845 auf der AMD-Schiene entgegensteuern. Auf Digitimes ist dazu zu lesen:

"ALi decided to strengthen its sales of the K7-supporting M1647 and M1649 chipsets in the third quarter. By working with motherboard companies, motherboard products equipped with one of the two chipsets and as cheap as US$50 per piece will, ALi hopes, boost its sales and give it an entry into the low-end system integrator (SI) market. Both ALi’s M1647 and M1649 chipsets will have to compete with the KT266 and KT133 chipsets from VIA Technologies and SiS735 and SiS733 from Silicon Integrated Systems (SiS)."

AMD Mainboards für gut 110,- DM wären natürlich eine Wucht. Derart niedrige Preise kannte man seit den Sockel 7 Zeiten nicht mehr und wären für den (großen) Lowcost-Markt nur wünschenswert.
