Mit dem Catalyst 12.1 WHQL hat AMD die Weiterentwicklung von CAL und OpenCL unter Windows XP eingestellt. In den Treiberpaketen für Windows XP sind daher seit dem Catalyst 12.2 WHQL weder CAL noch die OpenCL-Laufzeitumgebung enthalten. Den nächsten WHQL-zertifizierten XP-Treiber plant AMD nach aktuellem Stand im Dezember zu veröffentlichen.

Was ist neu?

AMD Catalyst 12.10 Beta – Windows XP – resolves the following issues:

• The TX3 game window will display as garbage if you open two game windows using AMD Radeon HD7750 and AMD Radeon HD 7770
• World of Warcraft: VPU recover issue happens if you open two WOW game windows at the same time with the AMD Radeon HD 7700 Series, and AMD Radeon 7800 Series
• YuLong X-game: VPU recover and blue screen issue happens if open two game windows using the AMD Radeon HD 7750
• AION online game: Texture error happens if select the 'Fixed frame' option using the AMD Radeon HD 6000 Series
• The CPU usage will more than 40% if open four XY online game windows on FX4100/6100+ AMD graphic platform.
• Game FreeStyle responds very slowly if using the AMD Radeon HD 7770 and AMD Radeon HD7750
• The Video Monitor on Web displays as black screen or garbage using the AMD Radeon HD6850 and AMD Radeon HD 7750
• JX3 game: The frame rate of the AMD Radeon HD 6770 and AMD Radeon HD7750 is too low
• KungFu Hero game -- Some elements on the map flickers with the AMD Radeon HD 7750 and AMD Radeon HD 7850
• 'Your graphic board has not been tested' error message appears if use the AMD Radeon HD7000 Series is used to play the AVA game
• 7F: The screen flickers during playing the QunXiongZhuLu game on 7F game platform with AMD Radeon HD 7750
• C9 game: The C9 game's map displays as step-shape using HD7000 series boards.
• Blade and Soul: Strip corruption observed when change the angle of view in scenario with mineral on the AMD Radeon HD 7000 Series
• The GPU's performance of Crossfire is lower than single GPU at about 10% when running Blade&Soul.
• Chinese online game Nizhan playing on the AMD Radeon HD 7000 series boards with double windows will appear blurred screen
• Chinese online game Wuhun playing on the AMD Radeon HD 7000 series boards with double windows will appear blurred screen
• Blizzard Games (Diablo 3, Starcraft 2, or WoW) slower performance than expected in Windowed Mode

Achtung! Wie bei allen Beta-, Release-Candidate-, Preview- und Hotfix-Treibern sei auch hier der Hinweis angebracht, dass es sich nicht um eine voll umfänglich getestete Software handelt, in der auch schwerere Fehler noch enthalten sein können. Der angebotene Beta-Treiber richtet sich in erster Linie an Enthusiasten, die stets die aktuellsten Features und Optimierungen nutzen wollen. Er sollte jedoch nicht auf Produktivsystemen installiert werden!

Wichtigste Neuerung ist die offizielle Unterstützung von Notebooks mit Intel "Ivy Bridge" und Radeon HD 7000M (7700 bis 7900), die über die automatische Umschalttechnologie Enduro verfügen. Zuvor waren Besitzer solcher Notebooklösungen auf den guten Willen der OEMs angewiesen, wenn es um die Bereitstellung aktueller Treiber ging. Auch Notebooks mit "Trinity"-APU ("Comal"-Plattform) sollen bereits von den Neuerungen profitieren können, welche mit Enduro 5.5 eingeführt wurden. Mit kommenden Catalyst-Releases will AMD die Unterstützung auf weitere Notebookkonfigurationen ausbauen. Zur Meldung von Problemen mit dem Notebook-Treiber steht ein spezielles Formular zur Verfügung.

In die Oktober-Ausgabe des WHQL-Treiberpaketes sind erneut Optimierungen zur Verbesserung der Stabilität und Kompatibilität mit diversen Anwendungen eingeflossen. Eine vollständige Liste der vom Treiber unterstützten Hardware sowie sämtlicher behobener und bekannter Probleme kann den offiziellen Release Notes entnommen werden. Solltet Ihr von Problemen betroffen sein, die darin nicht aufgeführt werden, dann könnt Ihr das offizielle Catalyst Crew Feedback Form verwenden, um das Treiber-Team darauf aufmerksam zu machen. Das hier zum Download angebotene Treiberpaket AMD Catalyst 12.10 WHQL enthält bereits eine aktualisierte Laufzeitumgebung des AMD Accelerated Parallel Processing (APP) SDK 2.7, was AMDs Lösung zur Entwicklung parallelisierter Software auf Basis der OpenCL-Programmierplattform ist. Eine installierte OpenCL-Laufzeitumgebung ist Grundvoraussetzung, wenn auf der Grafikkarte oder APU OpenCL-Kernel bzw. per OpenCL-beschleunigte Programme ausgeführt werden sollen. Mit dem Catalyst 12.1 WHQL hat AMD die Weiterentwicklung von CAL und OpenCL unter Windows XP eingestellt. In den Treiberpaketen für Windows XP sind daher seit dem Catalyst 12.2 WHQL weder CAL noch die OpenCL-Laufzeitumgebung enthalten.

• F1 2011 : Vehicle textures flicker when game is run at low settings
• Dirt Showdown : Flickering seen when benchmark is run in DirectX 11 mode
