Creative Labs hat ein neues Treiber-Paket für Soundblaster X-Fi veröffentlicht. Bei dem Treiber handelt es sich um eine offizielle Beta-Version.
Creative Labs X-Fi Serie war zuletzt aufgrund nachwievor vorhandener Probleme in den Schlagzeilen, die sich offenbar vor allem in Verbindung mit NVIDIAs nForce Chipsätzen bemerkbar machen (<a href="http://www.planet3dnow.de/cgi-bin/newspub/viewnews.cgi?category=1&id=1147890533">wir berichteten</a>). Der nun bereitgestellte Beta-Treiber adressiert laut den Release Notes ausdrücklich nicht generell die Ursache für die sogenannten <i>"crackling"</i>-Probleme, also Geräuschartefakte wie "knistern" oder "knacksen", sondern behebt allenfalls einige spezifische Probleme.
Zudem ist der Treiber zeitlich auf eine Nutzungsdauer von 120 Tagen begrenzt.

man was bin ich froh noch ne gute alte audigy 2 zs zu haben.
bis auf den umstand das sie sich zu anfang nicht so gut anhörte wie jetzt nie probleme damit gehabt.

ich versteh sowieso nicht warum es keine PCIe Karten von Creative gibt. Damit würde man das Bandbreitenproblem lösen und die PCIe-Slots hätten mal eine Aufgabe.
Aber vermutlich wird das nicht mehr all zu lange dauern wenn man sich anschaut wie auf neuen Boards die PCI Steckplätze immer weniger werden.

Stimmt, ich hab mich eigentlich auch schon gefragt warum nicht schon längst Geräte der gehobenen (Preis-)Klasse als Pci-e ausgeführt werden, da der Kundenkreis für solche Produkte schon längst über Pci-e verfügt.

Die Gängelung des Kunden ist bei Creative Labs eine Zumutung.
Ich vermeide es schon seit einiger Zeit neue Produkte von Creative Labs mir anzuschaffen.

meine Audigy 2 mit Pax Treiber geht auch immernoch sehr gut hatte die X-fi mal zum Test von nem Bekannten ich hatte keine Probleme mit meinem ASRock Dual Sata 2 aber mein bekannter mit seinem Nforce 4 Board ich bleibe aber noch bei meiner A2 ZS vor allem mit dem Mod Treiber zur Audigy 4

na wer weiss, vieleicht ist der treiber so buggy das sie versuchen in 120 tagen einen weiteren treiber zu basteln der nicht die gleichen fehler hat wie dieser. wer weiss.

Stimmt, ich hab mich eigentlich auch schon gefragt warum nicht schon längst Geräte der gehobenen (Preis-)Klasse als Pci-e ausgeführt werden, da der Kundenkreis für solche Produkte schon längst über Pci-e verfügt.

AFAIK liegt es doch an den schwachen Latenz-Zeiten von PCIe, warum man noch nicht umgestellt hat
ich muss aber zugeben, ich bin auch froh mir keine XFi gekauft zu haben, das hatte aber andere Gründe....

ich muss aber zugeben, ich bin auch froh mir keine XFi gekauft zu haben, das hatte aber andere Gründe....
Schon, aber die Logeshymnen welche auf Pci-e gesungen wurden von wegen schnell, etc. ließen doch auf eine Vielzahl von Erweiterungskarten hoffen. Das in der Praxis von alldem nichts funktioniert ist mehr als ärgerlich. Da werden Boards mit x Pci-e Steckplätzen gebaut und keiner brauchts.

Ps: Habe das auf Guru3d.com gelesen - ziemlich niederschmetternd wenn ein Hersteller wie Creative solche Aussagen machen. Auf TV Parten o.ä. werden wir wohl noch lange warten...
einer muss ja anfangen...entweder gibts viele PCIe Karten und die Boardhersteller ziehen nach, oder die Boardhersteller sind Vorreiter und die Kartenhersteller ziehen nach. Dass die Kartenhersteller es nicht eilig haben ihre Karten auf PCIe umzusteigen ist verständlich da das nicht wenig Entwicklungsarbeit ist, aber das kommt sicher sehr bald. Noch vor einem Jahr gabs noch kaum SATA Controller für PCIe, jetzt gibts schon jede Menge.Da werden Boards mit x Pci-e Steckplätzen gebaut und keiner brauchts.
Bin zuversichtlich dass innerhalb eines Jahres diverse Sound und TVKarten für PCIe im Handel sind.
