<div class="newsfloatleft"><a href="http://www.adobe.com/de/" target="b"><img src="http://www.planet3dnow.de/photoplog/images/54308/small/1_adobe_logo.jpeg" border="1" alt="Adobe Logo"></a></div>Das Standard-Programm zur Darstellung von PDF-Dateien, der Reader von Adobe, hat am heutigen <a href="http://www.planet3dnow.de/cgi-bin/newspub/viewnews.cgi?id=1286027033">vorgezogenen Patchday</a> ein Update auf die Version 9.4.0 bzw. 8.2.5 erfahren. Das Update behebt kritische Sicherheitslücken, die den Reader zum Absturz bringen können oder gar Angreifern erlauben, die Kontrolle über das betroffene System zu übernehmen. Da die Sicherheitslücken bereits aktiv genutzt werden, wird von Adobe zu einer sofortigen Aktualisierung geraten. Am einfachsten kann die Aktualisierung über die integrierte Update-Funktion bezogen werden. Als nächster regulärer Patchday wurde von Adobe Dienstag der 8. Februar 2011 festgelegt.
Das PDF-Format wird inzwischen erheblich für Angriffe auf User verwendet, indem kompromittierender Schadcode in die Dateien eingefügt wird. Laut Erhebungen des Anti-Viren Software-Herstellers F-Secure im Sommer des letzten Jahres soll das PDF-Format mittlerweile sogar der Träger Nummer 1 sein, wenn es darum geht Schadcode "an den Mann zu bringen".
Der aktuelle Adobe Reader läuft unter Windows ab Windows 2000 SP4, Mac OS X und Linux/UNIX. Eine schlanke Alternative ist <a href="http://www.planet3dnow.de/cgi-bin/newspub/viewnews.cgi?category=2&id=1285768382">Foxit Reader</a>.

Because the PDF viewing application also looked at all of the target folder’s parent folders, the crash also occurred if any of those parent folders did not have the requisite permissions. In this release, parent folder permissions are no longer checked, and no error occurs if the user has permission to access the target folder.</li></ul></li>
<li><b>Create PDF</b><ul><li>9.4: The create PDF logic for Reader is improved. Choosing Create PDF takes user directly to a Create PDF web page rather than launching an AIR application.</li></ul></li>

When a link in a PDF pointed to a non-PDF format file such as .doc, .xls, etc., the target document did not open and an error appears: Error dialog- "Windows cannot find xxx. Ich hätte nicht gedacht, dass die Situation um den Reader so brisant ist beim Thema Sicherheit. Mir ist aber auch schon sehr oft aufgefallen, dass die Updates sehr spät kommen, wenn man sie immer direkt aus dem Reader installieren lässt.
