Das neue Modell RADEON 9250 ist die jüngste Ergänzung in Sapphires Produktpalette auf Basis der ATI RADEON 9200-Reihe. Ausgelegt auf 256 MB DDR-Speicher und einer Core Clock-Geschwindigkeit von 240 MHz soll sie laut Hersteller als kostengünstigstes Grafik-Upgrade für AGP8x-basierte Desktop-Systeme dienen, sowohl im Privat- als auch im Business-Bereich.
Die Sapphire RADEON 9250-VPU (Visual Processing Unit) basiert auf einer 4-Pixel Shader Pipeline-Architektur mit Hardware-Unterstützung von Microsoft DirectX 8.1. Die Karte ist natürlich auch kompatibel zu DirectX9, kann jedoch - typisch für die 9200-Serie - deren neue Funktionen noch nicht nutzen. Das neue Modell unterstützt darüber hinaus die SMARTSHADER-Technologie von ATI.
Sapphire preist die Karte vorwiegend als Video-Lösung (DVD, Video-Streaming) für Billigsysteme <i>"inklusive ATIs VIDEO IMMERSION- und FULLSTREAM-Technologie"</i> an. Als Gamer-Karte ist das Modell natürlich zu schwach auf der Brust. Aber dafür ist die 9200-Serie auch nicht gedacht. Sapphire wird im Juli mit der Auslieferung an Systemintegratoren und Distributionskanäle für den Einzelhandel beginnen. Über Preise ist noch nichts bekannt.

Ich frage mich immer wieder:
Warum zum Teufel packen die auf so eine Karte 256 MB Speicher? Nur weil es sich dann besser verkaufen lässt? Ich versteh das einfach nicht. Sollen die doch einfach 64 MB daruf tun und die Karte zum halben Preis verkaufen.... wäre wahrscheinlich noch nicht mal langsamer, da man aktuelle 3D darauf vergessen kann. und für 2D 1600*1200 reichen auch 64 MB.....

Da geb ich dir Recht,was das soll das frag ich mich auch echt! Die 256 MB auf dieser Karte sind völlig Sinnlos! Aber ich werde eh zu Nvidia wieder wechseln,denn die x800 Pro kommt nicht an die 6800 GT ran!

nö: "compilance" = "Kompatibilität", d.h. es geht auch mit DirectX 9 aber ohne spezielle Unterstüztzung (ohne Shader 2.0, aber mit SmartShader von ATI (ich beruf mich mal auf Nero )), dafür müsste es "support" heißen wie bei DirectX 8 was da auch steht.

Lars sagt was anderes:
"Die Fähigkeiten von 3D-Chips richten sich nach Microsofts Direct3D-Standard, in dem festgelegt ist, was die künftigen Chipgenerationen alles beherrschen müssen, um sich "DX9 Compliant" nennen zu dürfen (also volle DX9-Unterstützung). Übrigens: "DX9 Compatible" bedeutet im Gegensatz, das nicht alle Features unterstützt werden."

Hmm Lars in allen Ehren, aber Saphire traut der Karte scheinbar nicht alle DirectX 9 Features zu:

Sie hätten auch einfach schreiben können: full hardware support for DirectX 8/9...
fertig. Aber sie erwähnen extra die Compilance, das lässt auf eine nicht vollständige Unterstützung schließen.

Nein, das ist erst ab 95xx so.
Die 9000/9100/9200/9250 sind Varianten der 8500, daher DX8.1. Sind ja eben R2XX Chips. DX9 in Hardware gibts erst ab dem R/RV3xx.

Das hört sich irgendwie an, als ob bald ein Treiber rauskommt, der DX9 support bietet. Ich würde das "noch" weglassen.
Das "noch" bezieht sich auf die Radeon 92xx Serie. Die beherrscht das noch nicht, während die moderneren Nachfolger es können. So ist's gemeintOriginal geschrieben von DaBrain

Na für Office Rechner reicht so ne Karte dicke.
Interessant könnte die Karte für all diejenigen sein, die 3D Unterstützung haben wollen und für deren Betriebssystem/Hardware-Plattform es keine Treiber vom Hersteller gibt, denn der R2xx Chip ist der letzte mit Open Source 3D Treibern.
