Skype 2.0 Final veröffentlicht

Die beliebte instant-messaging Software Skype hat einen großen Sprung gemacht und liegt nun in der Version 2.0.0.69 vor.
Neben den Standardfunktionen der meisten instant-messaging Programmen liegt die Hauptfunktionalität von Skype darin mit anderen Nutzern kostenlos über das Internet zu telefonieren. Dazu benötigt man eine Internetverbindung, Mikrofon und Lautsprecher oder idealerweise ein Headset. Außerdem ist es möglich Festnetztelefonanschlüsse anzurufen oder von Festnetzanschlüssen auf dem PC mit Skype angerufen zu werden. Diese Funktionen sind allerdings nicht kostenlos.

Mit der Version 2 steht nun eine weitere praktische Funktion zur Verfügung:
Videotelefonie. Nun können sich Benutzer die eine Webcam besitzen gegenseitig beim Telefonieren in die Augen sehen. Natürlich erhöht sich damit ein wenig die Anforderung an die Internetverbindung. Im Gegensatz zur Möglichkeit Telefonkonferenzen kostenlos abzuhalten sind die sogenannten "Video-Calls" allerdings auf Gespräche unter vier Augen beschränkt, zumindest so lange man Skype kostenlos nutzt.

Skype 2 läuft auf PCs mit den Betriebssystemen Microsoft Windows 2000 und Windows XP, für die Videotelefonie ist Windows XP notwendig.
Für Mac OS X und Linux ist Skype auch verfügbar, allerdings ist Version 2 dort noch nicht aktuell.

Na super. Video Telefonie nur unter XP. Wird man als win2k Nutzer eigentlich nur noch diskriminiert. Ich könnt kotzen

ICh bin mir nicht sicher, aber XP und 2000 sind sich so ähnlich das es wahrscheinlich nur an ein paar Codecs liegt.
Vielleicht kann ja mal jemand mit 2000 herumprobieren, ich habe leider weder 2000 noch eine Webcam.
