aber damals, zu alten Zeiten, mit nem 2.400 Baud Modem waren die Treiber nicht so gross, und es lief auch alles....

kann er mittlereweile kaum glauben das man sich 20-30 MB laden muss für nen aktuellen Grafiktreiber....

Ich für meinen Teil bin mehr als superzufriedener Nutzer der Omega-Treibers und den sehr mächtigen (und wesentlich schlankeren) Ati-Tray-Tools und dabei wird´s auch bleiben! :)

Komortabler, kleiner, mächtiger - warum denn dann die original-Treiber samt CCC und Frame-Geschisse verwenden? :)
 
Weil ich finde, dass die Kombination Originaltreiber + ATT die beste ist.

Und was mich erstaunt: Die Treiberleute scheinen tatsächlich noch Performance gefunden zu haben: Prey läuft subjektiv flüssiger. X1800XT 512MB 1280, 4x, 8x. Bin erstaunt.
 
Also wenn man die Linux-Treiber sieht, wird einem wieder ganz anders. In dem Saftladen muss AMD ordentlich aufräumen...
 
ja der linuxtreiber is ne katastrophe, wenn ich den installier geht gar nix mehr, ich bekomm nen version mismatch da scheinen die wohl einige pakete durcheinandergebracht zu haben ...
 
Seit dem 6.7er funzen bei mir keine OpenGL Spiele mehr. Kurz n grauner Schirm und dann crash to desktop :[

Unwahrscheinlich. Die Karte wurde von mad-moxx mit 16P verkauft, ich hab nur den Takt angehoben und die Device ID auf XT geändert.
Was sollen eigentlich die Renderpfade damit zu tun haben? Ob Pro, XT oder auch nicht, R420 bleibt R420 und damit auch der Renderpfad. Und unter welchem Namen die Karte in Windows erkannt wird, ist für den Pfad ziemlich Hupe.
Die OpenGL Dateien vom Cat 6.6 haben auch keine Besserung gebracht; scheint so als müsste ich auf den Katalysator 6.9 warten.
 
Wenn es bei anderen problemlos läuft (und das tut es) und bei Dir nicht, noch dazu bei einer gemodeten Karte, dann wäre wirklich das allerletzte, auf das ich tippen würde ein nicht funktionierender Originaltreiber...
 
@krümelmonster: Dann wend Dich doch an Mad-moxx - aber es kann gut sein, dass die freigeschalteten Pipes mit erhöhtem Takt nich gscheit funzen! Und ne Änderung der Device-ID is auch nich ohne Risiko - Du weißt nie, was der Treiber dann erkennt und macht und somit isses also ganz und garnich "Hupe"... Is ja auch völlig sinnlos - außer, um auf der LAN zu prollen.
--> Flash mal das Original-Bios von Mad-moxx zurück und schau, was sich dann tut! Vorher die Schuld auf den Treiber zu schieben, is absoluter DAU-Alarm!!!

Wo hast denn die Halbwahrheit her? Entweder funzen die Pipes oder nicht, das ist unabhängig vom Takt. Außerdem liegen die momentanen Taktraten ~30-40 MHz unter dem von ATITool ermittelten Maximum.

Na sicher weiß ich das, schließlich hab ich mich dazu belesen. Solange man in einer Chipfamilie bleibt (R420, R430, R480 etc.), hat das Ändern der DeviceID keine negativen Auswirkungen.

Flash mal das Original-Bios von Mad-moxx zurück und schau, was sich dann tut!

Auf der Karte läuft das mad-moxx Bios. Ob nun mit der Pro oder XT DeviceID ist unwichtig, ist ja schließlich nur ne kosmetische und keine technische Änderung.

Vorher die Schuld auf den Treiber zu schieben, is absoluter DAU-Alarm!!!

Wenn du meinst...für mich ist das mehrfache Setzen von Satzzeichen ein sicheres Indiz für'n DAU.

Nö, da stimme ich dir 100%ig zu. Wenn ich meiner X800 Pro (R420 Kern) die DeviceID einer X800 XL (R430 Kern) geben würde, dann wären Probleme auf jeden Fall vorprogrammiert, und das wahrscheinlich nicht nur mit bestimmten Treibern und nur unter OpenGL, sondern generell.
Allerdings basieren sowohl die X800 Pro, XT und XP-PE alle auf dem gleichen R420 Kern (bei AGP); die einzigen Unterschiede sind die Taktraten und die Pipelineanzahl. Und diese beiden Eigenschaften sind für den Treiberzugriff auf die Karte komplett unwichtig, da der Treiber nur zwischen den verschiedenen Kernen unterscheidet und nicht zwischen Taktraten und Pipelines.

Ich glaub übrigens nicht das sich der Präsident von AMD/ATI mit Treiberzeugs und DeviceIDs auskennt, der Mann hat Wichtigeres zun tun.

Oh Mann... :] Der Treiber unterscheidet doch nich nur zwischen den GPU-Typen, sondern auch zwischen deren Revisionen innerhalb eines Typs, zwischen den unterschiedlichen Graka-RAM-Typen und noch einigem mehr (z.B. dem PCB-Layout einschl. der Spannungsversorgung)! Und das alles erkennter an der Device-ID...

Das ist schlicht und einfach falsch. Zugriffe auf das RAM ,Spannungsversorgung und Lüftersteuerung werden vom Bios geregelt und lassen sich z.B. mit RaBiT bearbeiten.
Und statt mit Halbwissen um dich zu werfen, solltest du dir mal die .inf Datei des Cat zu Gemüte führen: die ersten 20% sind nur für die Zuweisung DeviceID -> Anzeige des Names der Karte in Windows, und in den restlichen 80% werden ausschließlich die verschiedenen Kerne behandelt. Oh Mann!
 
Du hast eine komplett umgemodelte Karte, die plötzlich Fehler auswirft. Und schuld ist ein Treiber, der scheinbar bei allen anderen funktioniert, offiziell ist und sogar Verbesserungen bringt (zumindest subjektiv).

Und jetzt ist der Treiber schuld, weil auf deiner komplett verbastelten Hardware was nicht geht. Ist klar. ;D

Was ihr anscheinend nicht begreifen wollt, ist das modifizierte Karten nicht automatisch eine Fehlerquelle darstellen, aber anscheinend begreift ihr die Reichweite der Modifikation einfach nicht.

Ne habe sogar weniger Performance als voher, aufgefallen ist es mir bei CS:S, habe dann mal den alten 3DMark 2001 durchlaufen lassen und siehe da: 1000Punkte weniger als voher.:(
