Ja genau, mit der 65nm-Fertigung will AMD diese CPUs auf 65W deckeln (stand imho in diversen Roadmaps). Die bisherigen späten 90nm-CPU lassen sich ja laut diverser Forumsposts auch im Grunde alle undervolten und damit unter diese 65W-Schwelle drücken. Den OEMs kommt das sicher entgegen, dann brauchen sie nur kleinere Lüfter, das Kühlkonzept kann anspruchsloser sein (die haben bisher wohl auch nicht die EE-Versionen gekauft, da die 20-30€ sich nicht durch 5-10€ billigere Lüfter rausholen ließen). D.h. AMD macht die Produktpalette attraktiver, ohne wirklich was aufzugeben (angenommen, die 65W-EE-Modelle wurden nicht so gern genommen).
Die Senkung im Notebookbereich wird dagegen wohl eher auf Konkurrenzdruck durch Intel zurückzuführen sein, bzw. ein Angriff, um den Marktanteil in dem Bereich auszubauen, behaupte ich mal. Anscheinend kann man sich das fertigungstechnisch inzwischen bereits erlauben, mit 65nm sollte das dann sowieso möglich sein.
Der FX-62 wird mit der Einführung von 4x4 seine Spitzenposition im Portfolio verlieren, wahrscheinlich wird er wie üblich in das nächstgrößere X2-Modell umgemünzt, dann aber zu einem Preis von höchstens um die 500$, mehr wäre lächerlich (oder gleich auf den 403$-Spot und alles rutscht eine Stelle durch, das dauert imho aber noch etwas). Diesen Preissprung will man wohl in kleine Häppchen aufteilen.

a) Zustimmung, die 65nm sollen ja bis Dezember kommen. 90nm dürfte genügend performant sein, sodaß die Vcc Absenkung für die geringer getaktete Modelle gehen dürfte.
b) Konkurrenzdruck Merom sollte man auch nicht vergessen. Allerdings nutzt in der unteren Preisregion der wenig, da die restliche Peripherie jener Notebooks eh nur begrenzte Möglichkeiten ergibt.
Zudem dürfte AMD nun die Fertigung der Dual-Core hoch gefahren haben, was logischerweise Preisrücknahmen erfordert, damit die auch verkauft werden können.
'Ärgerlich' für AMD daß den Preisrücknahmen nicht (schon) neue Produkte gegenüber stehen.

Der FX62 darf nur noch 220€ kosten, und nicht über 700€.

Das war dann wohl der eigentlicher Auslöser für AMD
So langsam entsteht ein Wunderglaube zum C2D ...
Bis +20% IPC Vorteil hat ein C2D, das isr es aber auch schon.
Natürlich noch die OC-Fähigkeiten des C2D, aber dann steigen auch schnell die Anforderungen ans Board.
AMD orientiert sich aber an den OEMs und Normaltakt, der FX ist eh nur noch exotisches Beiwerk.
Interessant, daß AMD wohl damit rechnet mit gut $700 noch Verkäufe erledigen zu können.

Ich spekuliere jetzt einfach mal, dass AMD alle Prozessoren auf EE umstellen will und jetzt den Punkt erreicht hat wo man mehr EE als normale Prozessoren produziert (produzieren kann).
