Neuer Fortran Compiler von Absoft für AMD Multi-Core Prozessoren

Nach PGI (wir <a href="http://www.planet3dnow.de/cgi-bin/newspub/viewnews.cgi?category=1&id=1186489889">berichteten</a>) bietet nun auch Absoft einen Compiler für Fortran an, der die neuen AMD Opteron Quad-Core Prozessoren unterstützt.

Die Absoft Pro Fortran v10.1 Compiler Suite bietet besondere Optimierungen für AMDs Quad-Core Prozessoren und erscheint zuerst für Linux, Versionen für Windows und MacOS sollen in den kommenden Wochen folgen.

Ich finde die Frage interessant, warum der Compiler auch für MacOS zur Verfüngung gestellt wird.

Naja, Fortran ist auch einfach durch den Compiler zu parallelisieren.
Mit C/C++ ist das wegen des Aliasing-Problems i.d.R. ein Riesen-Problem für den Compiler.

Weil er für x86-64 gilt und Prozessoren aller Hersteller abdeckt. Nur die Optimierungen sind halt herstellerspezifisch.

Außerdem muss man schließlich nicht für das Betriebssystem programmieren auf dem der Compiler läuft.
