Eine Gruppe von 19 Firmen hat das SOI Industrie Konsortium gegründet, mit dem Ziel die Verbreitung von Innovationen auf Basis von Silicon-On-Insulator (SOI) zu beschleunigen. Dabei sollen die Vorteile von SOI avanciert und die Barrieren der Adaption reduziert werden.
Zu den Gründungsmitgliedern des Konsortiums zählen AMD, ARM, Cadence Design Systems, CEA-Leti, Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing, Freescale Semiconductor, IBM, Innovative Silicon, KLA-Tencor, Lam Research, NXP, Samsung, Semico, Soitec, SEH Europe, STMicroelectronics, Synopsys, TSMC und UMC.
